Hello friends and neighbors 😃
I received these reminders today from DTE. I thought I’d share them with you. Stay cool ✌🏻💕
Temperatures are climbing - Stay comfortable while managing your usage
Summer heat is here, and we know it can be a challenge to stay comfortable while managing your energy usage. With these simple tips, you can stay cool while keeping your bill in check!
Close blinds
Keep the sun out and cool air in when temperatures are at their highest. Closing your blinds and curtains can help maintain your home’s temperature without running your AC!
Use fans
Did you know that your air conditioner is probably the biggest energy user in your home? Fans are an energy efficient way to stay comfortable without turning on your AC, cooling you and your bill. Be sure to turn them off when you leave the room – fans cool people, not places.
Avoid adding heat to your home
Need to run your dishwasher or have laundry to do? Wait until after dark when the air outside is cooler so your home doesn’t heat up as much. You can also turn off the dry cycle on your dishwasher to keep from adding hot, damp air to your kitchen. As an added bonus, rates are lower after 7 p.m., so you’re spending less on chores. It’s a win-win!
Get creative in the kitchen
Using your oven can increase your home’s temperature by as much as 30%! Stay cool and use a crockpot, microwave or grill in your meal plans when temperatures climb.
