The work professional cleaners do in hospitality often goes unseen, but it’s essential to every great stay.
Guests often see “cleaning,” but rarely notice everything that goes into creating a consistent 5-star experience. Every successful turnover requires physical effort, time management, problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, and constant adaptation to make each clean even better than the last.
As cleaners, we focus on things guests may never consciously notice:
• How the space feels when they walk in
• How the home smells
• Presentation and comfort
• Consistency and functionality
• The small details that help guests feel relaxed and cared for
One bad clean can impact reviews, ratings, repeat bookings, and ultimately a host’s business. That responsibility is always in the back of our minds, which is why so many of us take this work seriously — we genuinely care about the experience we help create.
At the same time, hosts deserve appreciation too. Without their trust, many of us wouldn’t have the opportunity to do work we’ve grown genuinely passionate about. A lot of cleaners truly love what they do, take pride in their work, and care deeply about helping properties succeed.
What cleaners often want isn’t praise or sympathy — just mutual respect and understanding for the amount of work, energy, and responsibility this role carries behind the scenes.
Especially with busy seasons and major events ramping up, cleaners often carry a huge portion of the operational pressure that keeps everything running smoothly.
Hospitality works best when both hosts and cleaners feel valued, respected, and supported. The best guest experiences happen when both sides are working toward the same goal.
To all the hardworking cleaners and hosts making things run smoothly every day: I see you, and I appreciate you.
