The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program in partnership with the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium and South Central Planning and Development Commission are collaborating with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reimburse homeowners to fix their home sewage systems along Upper Bayou Terrebonne.
WHO? The Barataria- Terrebonne National Estuary Program in partnership with the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium obtained a grant to fix home sewage systems. South Central Planning and Development Commission (SCPDC) will implement the program and reimburse eligible residents. SCPDC will visit residential sites to identify broken systems.
HOW? This reimbursement program is simple:
• Once SCPDC identifies a broken system, they will refer those homeowners for financial assistance.
• Homeowners must sign up to receive benefits from the program.
• A licensed contractor will provide an estimate for the repair, work, and fix the system.
• SCPDC will re-inspect to make sure all work was done.
• Reimbursements pay 100% of the first $700, then 50% of remaining costs up to a maximum of $2,000 in costs incurred by non-low income homeowners. Low income applicants could receive up to $4,000 at 100%.
WHY PARTICIPATE? To save between $2,000 and $4,000 in costly sewage repairs, to protect your family’s health, and to protect our drinking water.
THIS PROGRAM IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY AND IS A ONE TIME OFFER.
