K9 detection is very useful in locating Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) breeding sites. Raffi was trained by the Conservation Dogs of Hawaii in detecting CRB and loves his job. CRB breeding sites consist of mulch piles, green waste, yard debris, soil, compost and coconut/tree logs. Knowing whether you are a host to a breeding site is very important and if you are, we offer steam treatments to eliminate all life cycles of CRB. Our approach is simple — Locate Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) breeding sites using our trained detection dogs, and once confirmed, eliminate them with STEAM. Lethal temperatures kill every stage of CRB (eggs, larvae, pupae, and beetles). We tarp the pile and seal it to allow the steam to evenly heat the breeding site, and a few hours later they are gone. 100% clean. ZERO chemicals.

Today we found a Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB), burrowed into a recently trimmed coconut. The bore hole was all we needed to see to know it was CRB, but we didn’t think it was still inside. The beetles are very powerful and are a huge threat to our food sources and native trees. Remember to check your mulch piles, logs, compost & green waste for CRB, but also look at your coconuts on the ground. Where else have you seen CRB pop up? Let us know!

This video shows a rotting Royal Palm log that is infested with the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB). All types of rotting logs can be a host to CRB, but in this video we show just how many CRB larvae can be found in one. Please check your property for any potential breeding sites, and then let’s eliminate them! CRB numbers can spread very quickly and it’s important to eliminate as many as we can. Mulch, compost, soil, yard debris, rotting logs and stumps are where we should be focusing our attention. We all can get involved and understand what they like, and eliminate them before they reach adulthood and attack our trees and food sources!
