This will most likely be our last discovery at the new location. We’re about 95% done digging under the concrete slab. It’s an old bottle that’s cracked all over but somehow still in one piece. It has the original cork pushed down inside it. I’m not sure how it’s still in one piece. It’s still very cool. We are working on preserving the Coke mural wall (pic added in the comments for those who haven’t seen it). Very cool history buried under this building. We also have some items we’ll post that we can’t identify. If there’s any history buffs, we’d love to get your insight once we post them. I’ll try to take some pics next week.

I hope I’m not boring everyone but we uncovered some more cool stuff under the concrete slab yesterday. Do we have any history buffs in the house? This glass bottle sustained a direct hit from a shovel and somehow managed to not break. It unfortunately scratched it but I’m still excited it’s in one piece. Its makers mark says IPCCO which I think means IPC Company. There is an identical bottle on eBay but it doesn’t say what it’s from. Any ideas? We also found a broken run of the mill power line insulator but it’s still cool in its own right. We found more bone fragments (we’re starting to think bovine cow), broken booze bottles and more some random iron. We took the advice of one of our customers and used a metal detector but mostly found iron rubbish. I’m surprised at the amount of coal that we’ve found though. Anywho, for both of you that are still interested, I’ll keep ya posted.

Today, we found (among other things), this intact Sanford SYC ink bottle under the 105+ year old concrete slab at our new location. Crazy that it survived the jack hammers, pick axes and shovels. We also found a lot of broken booze bottles, multiple bones of unknown type, one of which had been cut by a saw, a piece of straight case rifle brass (that crumbled in my hand), an insulator from a power pole, a lot of coal, an iron rake and some misc pieces of metal. Another cool artifact for my home collection. Just thought I would share for those who were interested. Here is a link with more info on the bottle.

Mural #2 was uncovered today at our new location. Does anyone know what “Fatigue” was in the context of the early 1900’s? You can see the windows of the building were covered up with brick. So cool.

Since our business started in Homedale and we consider it home, I figured I would share this picture to our Homedale page. Although our new location is a neighboring town, I thought it was worthy of posting due to the history. Today we tore down 2 walls (one built on top of another to reveal what you see here. The building was completed in 1920. That means it was most likely under construction in 1919. It was clearly built AFTER the building with the mural since the mural was covered up. This means that building (even if only built 5 years earlier) was maybe built in 1914. The guys swinging the hammer on that new construction at the time would have probably be 20-30 years old which puts their birthdays somewhere in the late 1880’s-ish depending on age! Every ton of debris we tear out of here most likely came to the job site on horse and buggy. I have to imagine it made the local tribune when a new building was coming to life. What a crazy time to be alive. Sadly termites have all but destroyed this building but we are doing our best to save what we can. I love history and I love Homedale so I figured I would share.

I have to speak my mind. We had a customer come to Wishy Homedale tonight who could have easily taken us of a couple hundred bucks. What did he do? He called us and asked us how he could help secure our business and keep us safe. Can you believe that? When I offered to pay him for his kindness, he said no. He won’t even let me reveal his name publicly to praise him. This dude helped reinstate some faith in humanity. Turns out good people do still exist. Much love, my man. .

We are looking for ideas for a childrens room at our new location. We’d love to have one at our existing facilities but we just don’t have the space. Anywho, my target audience is kids 18 months to maybe 7 or 8. So basically after drooling but before YouTube. We would love ideas as far as flooring, wall materials, lighting, colors, safety, things you would like to see, things to avoid, wall paintings, etc. We were going to do a “if you love the toy, take it” model with hopes people would also donate toys. Your thoughts and input are appreciated! Throw it out there. Your crazy idea might be exactly what we’re looking for. aaaaaaand GO!

Wishy Washy Laundromats just signed for our 4th location in SW Idaho! We couldn’t have done it without our amazing customers. It all started in our tiny but amazing town of Homedale where I often see our customers on the cameras sweeping the floor, helping each other, and making it all worth it for our small, family owned business. We’ll announce the new location 2 weeks prior to opening but for now, it’s our little secret. Thank you to everyone who has helped us add a new location every year since we opened.
