Let's talk microfiber for a minute because I keep seeing people just absolutely hating microfiber rags, saying they grab your skin and it gives you the ick. I can agree, store bought rags will overstimulate me in an instant. So off I went a few years ago to understand why and see if there was a fix. What i discovered was gps, grams per square, counts vary greatly and store bought if you can even find it mentioned is only around 125. I did find an automotive rag that had a gps of 250, getting better but they look sad after a few washes and stop absorbing. Off to Amazon I went, I wouldn't even consider a rag with no gps count on it, I finally found the rags I have been using for 6 years, the gps count is stated in the description of 325. I noticed a few were looking like they were officially ready to meet thier fate and become apartment move out cleaning rags, I dont care if those get tossed, they are sad anyways. So I ordered new sets, looking at last purchase date of May 2022. These rags have seen some things, been thru some things, and are tired. I included a picture of 3 brought at the same time. One is brand new, one I washed every time, and one was left behind at a clients and they washed it for me. Can you tell the difference?
Purple was pulled from the package today for this picture. Pink was left behind on accident at a clients. Orange was washed by me. The orange is still going strong, the pink has definitely seen at least one round of fabric softener in the form of liquid or dryer sheets.
Liquid softner and dryer sheets leave a waxy cast on anything washed or dried with. Your clothes stop absorbing water and wear out much much faster. Instead try vinegar, I promise your clothing won't smell like it after and no waxy residue. Bonus- fabrics hold up way way longer.
I can attach link to what I purchased in comments if wanted. 12 pack for $15. You get what you pay for.
