Memorial Day isn’t about barbecues, sales, or an extra day off. It’s about the men and women who never made it home.
As a combat veteran, Memorial Day hits differently. I remember the laughs in the barracks, the conversations on long nights, the inside jokes only we understood and the silence that followed when some of those brothers never came back. There are empty seats at tables across this country because they chose service over comfort, duty over safety, and sacrifice over self.
We carry them with us every day.
In our memories. In our stories. In the lives we continue to live because they no longer can. So today, I ask one thing: Take a moment. Say their names. Remember them.
Not all wounds are visible, and not all heroes come home. To my fallen brothers, and sisters we have the watch from here. Gone, but never forgotten.🇺🇸
