THIS is the difference between a cleaner and a restorative cleaner. There's NO EXCUSE for a sink to have scrape marks and stains. Every professional restorative cleaner MUST keep Bar Keepers Friend in their arsenal. Not Ajax, Not Comet - ONLY Bar Keepers Friend has the active ingredient oxalic acid. Those butcher block counters are next.

SOFA DECK: The surface that lies directly underneath the seat cushions. This surface on every upholstered item should be inspected and cleaned EVERY TURN - no exceptions. This shoulld also be on your prestay checklist.

Pet friendly properties - it’s important to vacuum multiple times after a pet stay. This is from a 900 sf property after a 5-night stay. Over the years we’ve come to understand that it generally takes 3 turns to eliminate the majority of pet hair from a single stay as hair gets trapped in textiles, vents, and underneath and behind furniture. Hosts: if you’re constantly booking pet guests, and especially if the bookings are back to back - schedule some downtime for the property to be thoroughly dusted and vacuumed.

Want to know how my 5-star Hospitality Cleaning Guide is going? Here's a little paragraph of the day I lost my s**t. My goal is to complete the guide by the end of August. It truly is an exhaustive guide with detailed procedures, protocols and checklists for self-cleaning hosts, hosts who contract cleaners, and aspiring professional hospitality restorative cleaners. But the unfiltered recollections are my favorite bits.
