The Laundry Basket

The Laundry Basket Self-service laundromat on Stetson Ave in Hemet, CA.

01/30/2026

We are considering one night a week of Midnight Madness. Open all night with lower prices of maybe around 40% off. What night would you choose? Midnight Madness would be from 11pm to 5am. Regular prices before and after that.

More new equipment on the way. The Laundry Basket will be getting a few new washers to replace older ones. Our location in San Jacinto, The Laundry Hamper, will be getting all brand new equipment hopefully within the next two months. All equipment was ordered in mid-November but the company is behind in their manufacturing so it's taking longer than usual to receive the new machines.

12/15/2025

We will be open from 8am to 5pm with last wash or dry at 4pm on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We will also be offering washes at the following prices on these two days:

Single load wash $2.00
Double loaders $2.00
Triple loaders $2.75
Four loaders $3.25
Six loaders $4.75
Eight loaders $5.75

Yes, several employees asked to work those days so we went ahead and allowed it when normally we are closed on Christmas day and close early on Christmas Eve.

We are located at 145 E Stetson Ave in Hemet.

Crazy things that happen at the laundromat:

1. Customer: I put my clothes in machine, added detergent, and made my payment. Why isn't there any water?

Attendant: Sir, that's a dryer.

2. Customer: I put this entire bottle of soap in with my clothes and I still don't see any suds. Your machine is broken.

Attendant: Ma'am, that's not detergent. You added an entire bottle of softener.

3. Customer: My clothes are still wet and I put my money in the dryer. Your dryer is broken.

Attendant: You can't stuff the dryer all the way to the top and then expect it to dry your clothes for 25 cents. (one quarter gets you 6 minutes in the smaller dryers)

4. Customer puts clothes and money in the dryer then immediately touches the glass and yells out "It's not hot!"

Attendant: You literally just pushed the start button. You have to let it heat up.

5. Customer: I just burned my arm on the edge of the dryer when taking my clothes out. You should put up signs that say the dryers get hot.

Attendant: Great idea! We should also put up signs that say "Caution, your clothes will get wet in the washer."

6. Customer: I want a refund and I want you to pay for my clothes because I didn't see a sign that says when to add the bleach and now all my clothes are spotted.

Attendant: Oh, you mean you didn't see the signs that say we are not responsible for damage to your clothes or the instructions on the front of the washers that tell you when to add the bleach?

7. Customer: I put my pillows in the washer and they are still dirty. They didn't even look like they were tumbling at all. Your washer is broken.

Attendant: Well you stuffed it to the brim and video shows that you struggled to close the door because it was so tight.

Customer: Well is says it holds 80 lbs.

Attendant: Yes it does but you also have to consider the density of what you're putting in there. Obviously 80 lbs of pillows takes up way more space than 80 lbs of jeans. (Please use a little common sense.)

8. Customer: I just washed my clothes in this washer and then I put them in this machine to dry but they're still wet. Your machines are not working properly.

Attendant: You're right, they're still wet and that's because both of the machines you used are washers.

Yes, we get these people all the time but many will tell you something along the lines of:

"I've been doing laundry for 20 years and I know what I'm doing so don't tell me how to do it."

Update: Everyone is just waiting on the seller at this point. Unfortunately, sometimes not everyone in the transaction is ready and moves slower. The broker, escrow, landlord, equipment company, installation team, and The Laundry Basket is waiting for the owner to finish his part of the transaction. Due to this, there is no set date at this time.

We will be hiring for a new location in San Jacinto. It's looking like we will be having a start date around September 1st. If you are meticulous with cleaning, have customer service skills, can work alone, and can handle minor equipment issues, send a message here. Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Pay starts at $18/hr for those with no experience in laundromats. Pay rate for experienced laundromat workers will depend on level of experience. Send a pm if interested.

We have been opening at 6am on Mondays and Fridays since January. We have customers that seem to prefer coming in earlier and I'm sure with summer upon us, more people will want to come in earlier. We will start opening at 6am on weekdays and remain at 7am on weekends at least through summer. Let us know what you think.

Be careful who you buy tokens from. This woman came in and sold tokens to a customer. Unfortunately for the customer, she sold him tokens that don't belong to this laundromat and he was unable to use them.

Yes, the SCE power shutoffs affected us as well. A couple of employees lost hours so that makes it tough on them as well. Some customers were in the middle of washing when Edison cut the power. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about that as it is out of our hands. We want to think those loyal customers that waited to do their laundry with us once the power was back on. Those of you that came in to wash because your power is still off, we hope your power comes back on soon and hope you think of us if you ever need to use a laundromat again. Good luck everyone and make preparations for another power shutdown because we know they will do it again.

Do you know this woman? She took another customer's large blue blanket yesterday evening at 8:35pm. If you know her, please ask her to return it as the rightful owner wants it back. The rightful owner accidentally left it behind for over eight and a half hours. Many others saw the blanket in the dryer and left it alone. Thank you to all those customers that did the right thing and left someone else's belongings alone.
