What are these “gnats” that swarm in the afternoon and evening?

Actually, they are ash aphids. Although they can be annoying, they do not bite or sting people or pets, and they do no real damage to your landscape plants. The eggs overwinter on ash and sometimes fir trees. In the spring, they become wingless adults and feed on the leaves of the ash trees. In the Fall, the winged females return to the trees to deposit their eggs, and the cycle continues. Due to the fact that they are almost everywhere in the Fall, it is not effective to spray insecticides in an attempt to control them. They will die off naturally after the first hard frost.

Cooler weather and shorter days are finally here. In order to keep your lawn healthy and beautiful, please reduce sprinkler run times and frequency. We recommend watering about three times per week, with run times of 10 to 20 minutes. Turn the system off for a few days after significant rain. Overwatering can lead to fungal problems in lawns.

We are a fast-paced office looking for an experienced administrative assistant that works well under pressure and can understand the urgency of production. 40 hours a week March – November. Reduced hours during the winter months. Applicants must be able to perform a variety of office tasks, be proficient in QuickBooks, have professional phone etiquette, be self-motivated, DETAILED ORIENTED and a MULTI-TASKER. Temperatures are on the rise! Hopefully everyone can get outside and enjoy this beautiful North Idaho weather. Don't forget that lawns can dry out quickly in 80 degree weather if they don't receive enough irrigation. During stretches of dry, warm weather lawns need to be watered 3 to 5 times a week to stay green and healthy. More information is available by viewing our lawn watering guidelines on our website.
