Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will start trying to get things picked up. We will start with Monday routes and do what we can. Unfortunately, there are a lot of roads that we will not attempt. (Mainly in ohio county). Safety for the community and our guys are number 1 as well as not tearing up our trucks. Also, we will not attempt any driveways. Trash has to be at the road to be picked up. Not mandatory, but I do ask that totes do not have piles of snow around them. When servicing hundreds totes a day, dragging the cans over piles of snow does get extremely tiresome as well as greatly increases the risk of injury to our arms and backs.
Let me be clear. We can all get in our vehicles and drive up and down the road, but the problem with doing what we do is stopping and going. Slide offs and spin outs become a real threat. Having to back off a hill on ice is definitely not fun. These trucks carry a lot of weight, and once they start sliding, you are at the mercy of whatever that truck wants to do.
That is the reason I am so particular on when and where trucks go when the roads are slick or even look slick.
Please be patient with us because it will take time to get to everyone that we are able to.
