🚨NEW TEAM MEMBER🚨

We are pleased to welcome Rebecca Smith, DVM, PhD, to the South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District team. Dr. Smith is an infectious disease epidemiologist working with SCCMAD through CDC-supported efforts and the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Diseases. She brings expertise in disease surveillance, modeling, and forecasting of West Nile virus and tick-borne diseases, helping turn data into practical strategies that strengthen mosquito control efforts and protect public health across South Cook County.

HAPPY ‼️

With the weather being hot and sources drying up, we wanted to make note that at times like this, mosquitos will find unconventional ways to breed. One of those main sources are tires. Unattended tires are known to hold water and create the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. Please try your best to dispose of used/worn tires the proper way, and make sure that you are keeping tire piles covered. Thank You All For Your help!

The South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District will be celebrating National Mosquito Week (June 17, 2024 - June 21, 2024) by hosting a Mosquito Week Fair on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
