Clothing with chemicals on them is another element for starting a dryer fire. Some examples are: Gasoline, Stains, Finishing Oils, Cleaning Supplies and Cooking Oil. Helpful tips: Wash the chemical soiled clothing a few times before placing in the dryer then use the lowest heat setting. Its best to air dry when you can.

Some great solutions to preventing Dryer Fires: If you have your dryer on an upper floor really try to make sure the vent system is short and direct (straight). Metal ducts create the best airflow. It is also best to use a 4" diameter vent system to help keep lint build up down. Regularly check your outside vent to ensure proper airflow as well.
