Summer turnover weekends are not for the weak

We technically have a 6-hour window to clean vacation rentals, but honestly our day starts way before that just trying to beat traffic and get where we need to be. (See pic for reference)

Then checkout time comes and guests hang around 30-45 minutes past checkout while we’re sitting outside like 👀⏰😂

And y’all… if the condo sleeps 6, but 10 people stayed there all week and not one towel, crumb, spill, or snack wrapper got picked up… just know your cleaners are going THROUGH IT.

Also, little friendly reminder from your cleaning crew....
Please don’t approve early check-ins unless you actually see the property marked ready in your dashboard. Sometimes we’re in there fighting for our lives trying to get it guest-ready.

Be nice to your cleaners, y’all. We’re tired and summer is just getting started ✌🏼

I’m usually on here sharing the wins, the sparkle, and the good stuff… but today, we dropped the ball in an area for the first time in our 7 summers of operations.

Truthfully, it doesn’t feel great. It's almost 11 pm and I am still struggling to "let go of it".

As a leader, today reminded me of a very important lesson: when my team fails, I fail too. Not in a blame way, but in a responsibility way. My job is to lead, guide, train, and keep my eyes on the details, especially during the chaos of peak season.

Was it a successful Saturday overall? Absolutely.
Did we make a mistake? Also yes.

The good news is this...mistakes teach lessons, and this one taught me a big one. Rest assured, my eyes will stay on the ball moving forward.

Now it’s time to get some rest and do it all again tomorrow… hopefully with a little more sleep and a little less “learning experiences”.
