Still feeling the hangover. Drag and Drives are tough no matter. But summer time is extra brutal on rides, racers, and prep guys.

Sick The Magazine Sick Summer is always a favorite. Midwesterners born and raised ourselves visiting all the great historic tracks Host Byron Dragway , Cordova Dragway, Tri-State Raceway, Great Lakes Dragaway, and seeing all that horsepower cruising through the corn is awesome.

Now to that brutal part. While competitors faced tons of challenges and put on an absolute can't miss show. The prep to set all the personal bests and records may have looked like a duck gliding on the water. But beneath the surface it was a frenzy of activity.

We broke just about everything. And worked endlessly to keep the wheels some times literally on the show. For events like and we have two teams of prep a chase team that shows up the day prior to the stop to scrape and do all the initial prep work and an event team that sets the prep for that days run order and manages throughout the event. This is the way to provide consistent quality surfaces for these events.

Here's just a quick list of what went down, what we used, and what we broke.

WHAT WE USED:

Mileage round trip for both teams: 5,289 miles (the event team went back to Byron (the host track) every day of the tour. Cause we had too 😆)

Diesel Used: 612 gallons

Gasoline: 45 gallons

Propane: 325lbs

VP Racing Fuels LC7: 12 barrels

Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels 33x 16.5-15 Tires: 22

Microfiber towels: 100 qty

WHAT WE BROKE:

1 windshield
1 door trim
2 trailer tires
1 set hydraulic landing gear
6 trailer lights
2 brake controllers
1 tool box
Rotator main drive pillow block
Tractor PTO
1 sprayer arm
1 sprayer tank o-ring
Quad spark plug
Scrapper left wheel motor fan drive

Now things break and sure you have to take care of things. Roughly 300hrs of preventive service work was done to the equipment and hauling rigs prior to the event. We lost brand new trailer tires to tread failure, one to a piece of metal. A wheel motor to a Ratchet strap that got caught up when towing. A spray bar to someones likely overnight impaired golf ride 😆 just random things but all at once. The important part is we came through and as the hangover fades and everything is now fixed. We can't help but thinking about next year.

Speed Fest in June was a total vibe. Three of the premier street car racing organizations came together at the historic Beech Bend Raceway Park for a weekend of gear jamming and Summer kickoff adventures.

Sick The Magazine, Braggin Rights, and Street Car Takeover wouldn't let a fickle forecast ruin a great party.

Lazers, Jets, Nitro Top Fuel, roller coasters, water parks, and wheels up action made it an event not to miss.

Now of course mother nature wanted to have her say but after she saw the party that was about to go down, bailed out to just grab a seat and watch.

Of course Sick Prep and Surface Performance Solutions where on hand to set a dance floor. Stay tuned for 2027 dates and be ready to mark the calendar for this southern Kentucky clash.
