The final runway video from my collection back in April is finally here and ready to share, and I want to give some more information on how I came to designing this collection!❤️🔥
Growing up in Monrovia, Indiana, I was surrounded by a small-town feel and was able to experience several trips out West with my family, but especially with my grandpa. These trips were a staple to my childhood. Being able to see and experience a different part of the world— all the big mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife the West had to offer, I was captivated. Drawing the inspiration for my collection from these childhood experiences, I created: “Outlawed: A Western Revival.” Following a story of multiple renegade women seeking retribution to those who have wronged them, and will do anything to make a world they want to live in. Inspired by icons like Kate Barlow and the characters of “Bad Girls,” I wanted to create a collection to represent different types of women who overcame deceit, betrayal, and hardship from the ones that are closest to them, and to go against all the people who oppose who they are. In the end, hoping to show there is power in overcoming your own life’s obstacles and staying true to what you want to be. I worked from December to mid April to design, draft, fabric shop, sew all the pieces, and additionally, create a custom runway song with an audio engineering student at IU. All coming together to create “Outlawed.”
This collection is something i’ll forever be proud of, and forever amazed that I brought these pieces to life. Most importantly, makes me very excited to find out how this leads my design career in future works!
Enjoy!
