Here at Spark we love getting questions about laser ablation. We welcome all inquiries. Lately we have been getting a lot of questions about people wanting to buy lasers. Wether you plan on doing your own project or actually working for customers there are a few basic things people need to understand (trust us we have been through it)
1. What brand/type laser is best?
That depends on what your intent is. If you’re only looking at doing wood, aluminum, and light ablation a lower powered (300-500) pulsed laser is what you want. If your ablating heavy rust and or coating you will definitely want a high powered cw laser. And if you’re looking to open a business yes you need both. If your intent is to open a business there are a few items to consider. First insurance (yes it’s expensive and can be hard to find) Secondly you will need a laser safety certification course. Third you need to decide if you want to be mobile or stationary? We are fully mobile you will miss out on a lot of jobs if you are not mobile. (Being fully mobile has its own issues) but is way more profitable. We had a shop for a couple years and could no longer justify keeping it seeing 95 percent of work is mobile. As far as brand of laser well that is up to your budget however what we will tell you is we have experience with several different makes and what we will say is DO NOT CHEAP OUT. This is where you will get b exactly what you pay for. Aka cheap out be sorry.
