The paper towel test… every cleaner’s favorite 😅🫠
A client wets the floor after a cleaning, wipes it with a paper towel, and sends a picture saying, “Did you even clean my floors?”
Here’s the part most people don’t realize:
1. A standard mop — even multiple passes — will NOT pass the paper towel test.
2. To achieve a truly “wipe-clean” floor, your cleaner is usually hand scrubbing on their hands and knees for HOURS.
3. It’s an entirely different service than a standard maintenance clean, and it WILL be priced accordingly.
This picture is from ONE small section of floor.
It took multiple rounds of scrubbing, wiping, rinsing, and repeating just to get close to a clean paper towel. And yes… I still went back over it again because I’m picky like that 😂
A few things clients should know:
A. Maintenance cleans and deep floor restoration are NOT the same thing.
B. If you want a “white paper towel approved” floor, communicate that upfront so your cleaner can quote appropriately.
C. Not every cleaner offers this service — and that’s okay. It is extremely hard on the body and very time consuming.
D. Shoes in the house, pets, kids, daily traffic, and time between cleanings all impact how long floors stay clean.
At the end of the day, realistic expectations matter. A maintenance clean is designed to keep your home fresh and maintained — not permanently spotless between visits.
And if you truly want floors that stay cleaner longer?
Regular upkeep between appointments, removing shoes indoors, and investing in something like a robo vacuum/mop honestly makes a HUGE difference!! And it’ll make your cleaner love you even more 😘
Personally, these types of before and after transformations are a favorite of mine!! It’s work, but man the end result is ✨
