I see lots of posts made by consumers looking for a cleaner and there's often these prerequisites:
Inexpensive, honest, (won't steal my stuff..yes, I actually saw this) thorough etc ...
So I thought I'd offer some tips for these folks looking for a cleaner:
~Find someone who carries insurance, at the very least a liability policy.
~Someone with excellent references from current clients
~Someone organized and professional.( Not someone who shows up looking as though they just rolled out of bed)
~Someone available to answer all of your questions and willing to meet you (and walk through your home)
~Do your research. Call references, ask around about the cleaner's reputation. Do an online search.
~Are they competitively priced? Check with more than one cleaner in your area. Demographics play a large role in price.
Some consumers are genuinely surprised at the price for a cleaning service. Of course they've seen the ads on TV for cleaning services at $19.95. please note that price is for the first visit only, and this is a franchise.
Having a cleaner is a luxury and the work itself is very physical. Not to mention the expense of being a cleaner... Supplies, equipment, insurances, gas and wear and tear on your vehicle. Something to consider when weighing the price of service.
Make sure your expectations are fair and completely discussed before work is performed.
One more thing, when someone posts on a community page looking for a cleaner, pay attention to the recommendations. If a company is recommending themselves, there could be a couple of reasons. First, they could be just starting out and looking for clients. Or second, they are struggling to retain clients. The best recommendations come from current clients, or people familiar with the cleaner.
