🌿🚁 Taking on Coyote Brush in California’s Coastal Hills!

We’re back in the field, and this time we’re tackling coyote brush in San Gregorio, California!

Coyote brush is a native California shrub commonly found throughout coastal hillsides, rangelands, and open grasslands.

While it plays an important role in our natural ecosystems, it can also become a challenge when it spreads into areas managed for grazing, access, or other land-use objectives.

And when you’re dealing with acres of woody vegetation across rolling hillsides and steep terrain, traditional application methods aren’t always practical.

That’s where agricultural drones can provide another option.

🚁 Aerial access: Reach areas that may be difficult or unsafe for ground equipment.

🎯 Targeted applications: Focus treatments on designated areas of unwanted vegetation.

🌱 Reduced ground disturbance: No need to drive heavy application equipment across sensitive hillsides.

⛰️ Terrain adaptability: Navigate changing elevations and irregular landscapes with careful flight planning.

But here’s something important: The drone is only part of the equation.

Successful vegetation management also depends on proper timing, product selection, application planning, and understanding the landowner’s long-term goals.

Projects like this are a great example of how modern technology can complement traditional land management practices.

🌿🚁 Not all w**ds are created equal.

There’s a big difference between treating annual w**ds and managing established woody vegetation.

Take coyote brush, for example.

It’s a common sight across California’s hillsides, pastures, and rangelands. While it’s a native plant that plays an important role in many ecosystems, it can also become a management challenge depending on the property’s goals.

Unlike many annual w**ds, established woody plants have extensive root systems, tougher foliage, and the ability to regrow after certain treatments.

That’s why successful brush management involves more than simply choosing an herbicide.

🌱 Plant maturity: Established brush can respond differently than young vegetation.

🌿 Growth stage: Timing can influence herbicide uptake and effectiveness.

💧 Application coverage: Dense, woody vegetation can make reaching the intended target more challenging.

🌤️ Environmental conditions: Plant stress, moisture, and temperature can influence treatment performance.

📋 Long-term planning: Monitoring and follow-up management may be necessary to achieve lasting results.

And when that brush is growing across steep hillsides or difficult-to-access terrain, getting equipment into the treatment area becomes another challenge.

That’s where agricultural drones can offer a practical application option.

Good vegetation management starts with understanding the plant, the property, and the landowner’s objectives.

The drone is simply one tool to help get the job done.

⛳🚁 Three days surrounded by turf professionals, and one thing stands out: There’s always something new to learn.

We just wrapped up the Western Golf & Sports Field Summit in Ontario, California!

Coming from the agricultural drone industry, it was a great opportunity to step into the world of golf course and sports turf management.

While agriculture and turf management are different industries, they share many of the same challenges:

🌿 Managing w**ds and unwanted vegetation

💧 Maintaining healthy plants while managing water resources

⛰️ Working around challenging terrain and obstacles

🎯 Making precise, effective applications

🚜 Finding ways to improve operational efficiency

What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to introduce EAVision drone technology while learning more about how turf professionals approach these challenges.

One thing I’ve learned building Ag Drone Concepts is that you can’t introduce a new solution without first understanding the problem.

Drones won’t replace every piece of traditional equipment, nor should they.

But there’s a lot of opportunity to explore how this technology can complement existing operations.

A big thank-you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared their experiences, and took the time to talk drones!

⛳🚁 Final Day at the Western Golf & Sports Field Summit!

It’s been a great few days here in Ontario, California, introducing agricultural drone technology to the golf course and sports turf industries!

One of the biggest reasons I enjoy attending events like this is the opportunity to meet people from different industries, learn about the challenges they face, and explore where new technology might fit into their operations.

From golf course maintenance and vegetation management to precision applications and difficult-to-access areas, there’s a lot of potential worth exploring.

But what I’ve enjoyed most is the conversations.

Hearing directly from superintendents, turf managers, and industry professionals gives me a better understanding of where drones could provide real value and where traditional equipment still makes the most sense.

A big thank you to everyone who has stopped by, asked questions, shared their experiences, or simply taken a few minutes to check out the drone!

We’re excited to continue building relationships within the turf industry and see where these conversations lead.

⛳🚁 Day 2 at the Western Golf & Sports Field Summit!

We’re back at the Ontario Convention Center today, continuing to introduce EAVision agricultural drone technology to the golf course and sports turf industries.

One of the things I enjoy most about attending events like this is the opportunity to step outside traditional agriculture and learn about an entirely different industry.

Golf course superintendents and sports turf managers face unique challenges when it comes to maintaining their properties.

🌿 W**d and vegetation management

⛰️ Slopes and difficult-to-access areas

💧 Irrigation and water management

🚜 Equipment access and ground disturbance

While drones aren’t going to replace conventional turf equipment, there may be opportunities where aerial application technology can complement existing maintenance programs.

And that’s what makes these conversations valuable.

We’re not just here to show people what drones can do. We’re here to learn where they can make a difference.

🍂🚁 DRONE MYTH vs. FACT

❌ MYTH: Once temperatures start dropping, agricultural drone spraying season is over.

✅ FACT: Cooler weather doesn’t automatically mean aerial applications have to stop.

In fact, fall can be an important time for certain vegetation management projects.

But temperature is only one piece of the equation.

🌡️ Temperature: Cooler conditions can affect plant growth, herbicide uptake, and product performance.

🌬️ Wind & Inversions: Calm mornings aren’t always ideal. Temperature inversions can increase the risk of off-target movement.

🌿 Plant Activity: Some herbicides perform best when target vegetation is actively growing.

💧 Application Conditions: Droplet size, spray volume, weather, and equipment settings still matter.

🧪 Product Labels: Every application must follow the product’s specific requirements and restrictions.

The calendar doesn’t determine whether an application will be successful.

The conditions do.

Sometimes fall presents a great opportunity for vegetation management. Other times, the best decision is to wait.

That’s why understanding the target, the product, and the environment is just as important as knowing how to operate the drone.

⛳🚁 When you think of agricultural drones, do you think of golf courses and sports fields?

Most people picture drones flying over cornfields, rice, or orchards.

But agricultural drone technology has potential applications well beyond traditional farming.

Think about the challenges turf managers deal with:

🌱 Maintaining healthy, consistent turf

🌿 Managing w**ds and unwanted vegetation

💧 Working around irrigation systems and sensitive areas

⛳ Navigating slopes, bunkers, and irregular treatment areas

🚜 Minimizing unnecessary equipment traffic on maintained surfaces

🚁 Aerial application can offer another tool for certain turf and vegetation management projects, where the equipment, product labels, site conditions, and regulations allow.

That doesn’t mean drones will replace conventional turf equipment.

It means there’s another option worth exploring.

The future of agricultural drone technology isn’t limited to agriculture.

It’s about finding practical applications for the technology wherever it makes sense.
