We are proud to be a woman-owned business, built from the ground up. Below, we share a little bit from owner Andrea Smith Fein about her vision when founding At Home Cleaning Co.

“I never set out to own a cleaning company—but looking back, it makes perfect sense. Even as a kid, I found comfort in clean spaces. I’d spend my free time organizing, tidying, and soaking in how much better everything felt when things were in order. That love of calm, intentional environments has stayed with me my whole life.

When I started At Home Cleaning Co. in 2017, I was trying to find my place in the workforce. I knew I was a great employee—I put my best effort into everything I was tasked with. But I wasn’t earning nearly enough to dig out of student debt, let alone cover rent. It felt like everyone was looking for ways to pay me less, demand more, and never say “thank you.” I was driven, energetic, and creative, but I resented rigid rules and structures that didn’t serve the people working within them. Bureaucracy and workplace politics drained me. They snuffed out my fire.

So when I started this company, I made a clear promise: to treat people the opposite of how I’d been treated throughout much of my working life. This business would offer respect, living wages, foster personal accountability, and never rely on punishment or control as a substitute for leadership.

After plenty of bumps, scrapes, and lessons, I can confidently say At Home Cleaning Co. reflects the vision I had from the start. We have an incredible team of bright, kind, hard-working people who give their best because they choose to. We offer living wages, PTO, mileage reimbursement, monthly bonuses, and breakfast and snacks. Most importantly, we’re kind to each other. We work as a team. Competition is only ever friendly. And we always say “thank you.”

Our Story Founded in March of 2017, At Home GR, LLC was always about “Peace of Mind.” The concept came from founder Andrea Smith Fein’s desire to help families feel the absolute joy and relaxation that comes with returning to a spotless home. The original name for the business was “At Home with Andrea,” and included home cleaning, meal-prep, tutoring, and design services. After 6 months of growth, it was clear that cleaning services were the most needed in the Grand Rapids Area. The focus then became striving to be the best home cleaning service in our area (and the world!).
