🩵A little reminder about pricing when hiring a professional cleaning company
I completely understand that everyone has a budget, and I will always respect that. But there is a BIG difference between paying someone who cleans on the side and hiring a legitimate, licensed and insured cleaning business.
When you pay my business, you aren’t simply paying for the hours I’m physically inside your home. You’re paying for the cleaning itself AND the supplies, equipment, gas, insurance, licensing, taxes, bookkeeping, advertising, vehicle expenses, administrative time, and all of the other costs that come with running a legitimate business.
So when someone looks at a $180 - $350 for a maintenance cleaning and thinks, “They’re only there for 2-3 hours, so they’re making $75-$150 an hour,” that’s not actually how it works. That is business revenue, not my personal take home pay. A large portion of that goes right back into operating the business.
I also have service agreements in place for a reason. My clients agree to the pricing, scope of work, time limits, policies, and expectations before services begin. If the cleaning is completed before the maximum allotted time, that does not mean you can now add more stuff for the cleaner to do. The cleaner has completed the agreed upon service already, If you want to add you will pay for the additional items.
And yes, there will always be someone willing to do it cheaper. You may find someone who isn’t licensed or insured and is simply doing cleaning as a side hustle. That’s completely your choice, and I genuinely understand that everyone has to choose what fits their budget.
But I also have to choose what makes sense for my business.
I’m not going to underprice my services just to keep a client if doing so means I’m covering expenses out of my own pocket or working for no profit. Profit isn’t greed. Profit is what allows a business to stay open.
I appreciate every client who understands the value of hiring a professional, respects my pricing and policies, and supports my small business. Those are the clients I’m grateful to have. 🫶🏼
Know your worth. Know your numbers. And don’t be afraid to stand behind your pricing.
