I feel like I need to put this out in the open.
People usually do not get upset and frustrated if they are charged extra labor on a detail (which we always tell them could happen and the price is it per hour) especially if they know their vehicle is dirty but today has us pretty upset.
Little do most know just how much work it is to detail a car, truck, suv, boat or anything really. Getting all crevices, making sure all car/dog hair is out of your interior, mud, dirt, pop explosion ect… it takes TIME and lots of it! When I have 5 people out detailing a boat and it takes over 12 hours of labor time when we include 6 hours in the package you are CHARGED for the extra 6 hours! Even have a discount of $250 because we were delayed due to sickness in the house/er trips. This specific detail should have cost this customer over $1000 before the $250 discount and they give us $500. This is a prime example of why businesses like this don’t succeed. This boat was FILTHY— plants growing out the seats, mildew stains we could not get out of the leather, algae and mold stains all over the carpet.. we all could have spent 2 weeks cleaning this boat and it would not have looked like any of us like to see our work looking.
The husband and wife kept telling the guys different things to do and not do with the boat. Husband says make the exterior shine, wife says don’t worry about the exterior. Husband says don’t worry about the carpet as much, wife wants carpet done. What do you do you at that point. There was 3 of us in the interior today and 2 on the exterior. Not once did they say they were not happy with the detail.
If we make a mistake and you tell us you aren’t happy or we happen to miss something we ALWAYS fix the invoice to a price both the customer and we agree on. YES this has happened and we love getting feedback from our customers on what we have done wrong so we can improve the next time.
We have been generous enough to allow payment after services are finished because we want you to love your detail and see the work before you pay, but after this that will be changing. We WILL be requiring you to pay upfront for your package and any extra labor will lbe charged after. We are sorry to have to do this but we can’t succeed when we are dealing with these situations. We hope you all understand.
