DID YOU KNOW - Mice and rats defecate and urinate many times per day. Droppings and urine are the way they communicate with each other about food supplies. So if you find droppings, that's a good sign rodents have found food in that area and are alerting other rodents. They will also leave urine trails. TIP: If you keep pet food outside, it's wise to store in a galvanized steel trash can. They can chew through the plastic ones...plus it helps to sharpen their teeth!

Seriously though, we have never had as many calls about scorpions as we have this summer...off the charts! That goes for spiders as well, specifically black widows (there's probably a rock band by that name too 😄) It's hot & dry y'all. Bugs are trying to survive! MOSQUITO ALERT! After the recent rains we received, you may have standing water in various containers. You should dump the it ASAP! Mosquitoes are attracted to water and especially when it turns stagnant. They lay their eggs and multiply rapidly!

Never heard of tarantula hawks until today! They're one of the largest species of wasps in Texas. They sting tarantulas...

Never heard of tarantula hawks until today! They're one of the largest species of wasps in Texas. They sting tarantulas, bury them in holes in the ground and lay eggs on them. The larvae of the wasp then feeds on the tarantula, similar to the cicada killer wasps.
