We are starting *** High School tomorrow morning. The customer (Lili) said whoever we sent last time out there (July), he was amazing. Very in communication and did great work. That was Jorge. I told her it was the same crew. She was very happy about that.

We just got this in from a customer that decided to go with the low bid company. We've been asked to come out and our estimator will look to see if the rooftop units were cleaned or not as the customer hasn't inspected them.

Machado would never leave a job incomplete like this however. We rely on our reputation rather than low bids.

"We had someone from another company come out to clean the A/C units on the roof and clean the ducts. They told us the ducts could be cleaned, rather than replaced, and they did the work on the weekend when we were out of the office. We looked in the Ducts on Monday and they were just as dirty as before, and we went back and looked at security camera video, and saw that they had taken the ceiling vent grills out and cleaned them, and they had a long vacuum hose with a brush on it, but they didn’t run it up the vents, and they spent a lot of time just sitting around. They charged us for cleaning the ducts but didn’t do it, and when confronted they said they didn’t clean the vents because they were too brittle and need to be replaced. The inside of the vents still look like this, the same as when you were here to inspect them, but the vents on the ceiling are clean now and seem to flow air better."

We had a conversation with a facilities person regarding duct cleaning recently...

"We generally get called when particles are coming out of the supply ducts or someone notices what might be mold.

The ducts are out of sight and out of mind and since it is an every ten years or so maintenance, it doesn't get budgeted for like a weekly, monthly or even yearly maintenance. Unfortunately, it is labor intensive and the expense is a shock but in reality it is probably a fraction of what is paid for cleaning the office each week for ten years or the electric bill over ten years.

That is why I try to have customers look at budgeting for it."

J: I remember noticing how pristine the ducts in Nakatomi Plaza were when John McClane was crawling through them lol.

M: Also in Mission Impossible.

G: Nakatomi Plaza was a relatively new building...I can't imagine the CIA headquarters were.

T: AND, of course, all the registers have hinges! And doorknobs on the inside of them! Can't forget those.

C: No turning vanes, no sound traps, no zip screws, no reheat coils....And all the ducts are always at least 24" x 48".
