Happy Memorial Day everyone! Well, yesterday anyway 😅 While I hope everyone was enjoying time with their families, I spent my day welcoming a precious little baby girl into her own family!
Now, I've known this family for decades, to say they are my best friends is, well, the ABSOLUTE TRUTH 🥰 It was the greatest honor to witness and support their birth journey. This particular story, and family, is very very dear to my heart.
This is one of those stories that really shows how unpredictable birth is and that outcomes are never promised, and that is ok!
This mama went through it! She had her preferences, and when it completely flipped on her from start to finish, she never gave up. Her strength was most evident in her endurance through all 18 hours of laboring to welcome her baby girl. It was definitely not easy, and birth never is, but she powered through it like the warrior I've always known her to be. She leaned into trust in her team, her husband, and God. Her wisdom for every pivot and knowing her limits, were beyond compare.
The dad, my goodness, that dad. He was her perfect teammate, even the nurse mentioned it! His steadiness in being her anchor and her grounding force mixed with his visible love and compassion for his wife and child was the most beautiful image of the 3 strand cord that the Bible talks about. He was so attentive to her needs and her pain, and trusted her intuition when she said something would need to change.
The beauty in this wildly unpredictable birth is unmatched. The strength, the endurance, the wisdom, the trust, the intuition, the steadiness, the love between mom and dad all to welcome their little girl was absolutely awe-inspiring.
All the births I've attended are amazing and have their own special beauty, every single one of them. The ones that go exactly as planned, and the ones like this birth that take on a life of their own.
