Good morning! And thank you for visiting our page. We posted a couple of days ago about armadillos and moles. Since then, we have taken 3 more moles from a customer’s yard, and an armadillo this morning from another customer’s home. If we can help you with these, or any other wildlife related problems/issues, just give me a call…… Thank you!!

With the arrival of spring, we start thinking about outdoor activities like preparing for a garden, planting flowers, and of course, mowing the yard. This time is also when you may see the telltale signs of mole activity in your yard. These little critters are very strong diggers, and the raised loose dirt “trails” created by their shallow tunneling can cause extensive damage to your lawn. If you recognize mole activity on your property, give me a call, and we will do our best to resolve the problem. Thank you for visiting the page!!

Thank you for visiting the page..We have recently received several calls regarding armadillos. These animals were first documented / confirmed to be found in Kentucky in the mid to late 1980’s, and it appears they are thriving and here to stay. Searching for grubs, worms and insects, an armadillo can wreak havoc on your yard, flower beds, etc. as they dig for their dinner. If you suspect you have an armadillo causing damage to your property, just give me a call, and we will be glad to take care of it for you. Thank you for trusting Jim’s Wildlife Solutions!!

Recently completed a job where the customer suspected raccoons in the attic. A roof inspection revealed an actual hole in the roof. We caught 3 raccoons on the roof and one on the ground….after verifying there were no more of those rascals in the attic, we repaired the roof to ensure no animals could enter, and to stop any further water damage from occurring. This was an enjoyable job, and I feel like we were able to provide an effective solution to the customer’s wildlife problem. Thank you for visiting the page, and give me a call if I can help you resolve any wildlife related problems / issues.

Thanks for visiting Jim’s Wildlife Solutions!! As we have talked about before….. if you are experiencing a problem with wildlife, catching the animal does not necessarily mean the job is complete. To provide the best service to a customer, we need to correct the issue that enabled an animal to become a nuisance in the first place. The attached photos show where a groundhog had taken up residency under a barn. After catching the culprit, we dug out an area around the entry point, placed some concrete, and covered the area with existing gravel. A survey around the barn revealed 4 additional entry points….. those were also corrected. At this point, I’d say we provided a good solution to the problem. Thanks again for taking the time to read this post,
And if I can help you resolve a wildlife problem, please give me a call. Thank you!

Just completed a job today that confirmed to me why I enjoy this work so much. A family of beavers were doing what beavers do….. disrupting the stream flow with 3 separate dams, and taking a toll on trees/saplings along the creek. Was able to remove 5 beavers from the location in 2 days, and wrecked the three dams to allow normal water
flow. While I immensely enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, the best part of this job was the conversations and stories shared with good people who are more than customers…… much more. Thank you for trusting Jim’s Wildlife Solutions.

Nuisance wildlife control generally involves trapping and removing an animal, but not always. A recent job involved a skunk digging under a customer’s shed in their back yard…. And there had definitely been a skunk under there!!! After taking a couple days to verify there wasn’t a skunk under the shed, the solution was to skunk proof the shed to ensure that a female didn’t choose that spot to have a litter of babies. After removing existing gravel along the front of the shed, a strong wire mesh was secured to the lower front of the shed, with the mesh extending out about 18”, and new dense grade was placed and tamped over the mesh. No skunk was trapped, but I believe we effectively provided a solution to ensure a skunk ( or any other animal) would not be able to dig/burrow under the shed. The attached photos show the sequence of correcting the situation. Thank you for reading this post, and give me a call if I can help you provide a solution to any wildlife problems.

Wildlife Solutions to……WHY ARE THE COYOTES SO VOCAL RIGHT NOW? Coyotes typically mate from January through March, with February being the peak mating period. Each type of howl, bark, and yep represent a different type of communication…. When you hear what sounds like 15 coyotes, it is probably no more than 2 to 4 animals. The howls, barks, and high pitched yelps are designed to help coyotes defend / establish territories. You may see more frequent daytime sightings, as males search for females or young coyotes are trying to establish their own territory. One thing for sure, they are putting on free concerts almost nightly right now! Thanks for taking the time to read this message.

Wildlife Solutions to….SKUNKS!!! What are these critters up to now?? February and March are the peak mating season times for skunks. Their activity dramatically increases as males search for a mate, often traveling up to 5 miles looking for a receptive female. As a result, we see an increase of skunks hit on the road, and of that unmistakable skunk odor. During this time, both males and females can become more aggressive and agitated, with females spraying to discourage unwanted suitors. Soon after mating, a female will begin searching for a maternal den.
Often times, these dens end up being under a shed, deck, porch, or your house. There are measures you can take to prevent a skunk from taking up residence where you live….. securing garbage, not leaving your pet’s food outside, etc., but the best thing you can do is survey your outbuildings, porches, decks, and your home, looking for holes, openings, or even depressions that could turn into a den entrance with a little digging. If you experience a problem with these little critters, give me a call. I will do my best to provide you with an effective solution. Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy message, and I hope it is useful to you.
