Spotted lanternfly confirmed in Rockingham County, NC 🚨
Yesterday, the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced the spotted lanternfly was confirmed in Rockingham County, making it the third positive county in the state.
This invasive pest poses a significant threat to agriculture (particularly grapevines), fruit trees, and hardwood trees, by feeding on plant sap and excreting honeydew that promotes sooty mold growth. Not only are they a huge annoyance, they can kill grapevine, reduce fruit production, and stress our trees.
