Cleaning a condo right does take time. A two bedroom two bath, 1000 square foot condo should take two and a half hours. Why so long? Because sometimes you have to iron the pillowcases.

Sometimes owners balk at the expense of having a unit deep cleaned. Yes, we DO clean our units so thoroughly that many of the "standard" deep clean items, such as cleaning baseboards, high dusting, descaling the showers and faucets, usually aren't necessary. However, there are areas that we simply cannot get to during a standard cleaning job. Most notably pulling out large appliances and cleaning behind them.

Often these areas, because they are difficult to get to, do not get cleaned on a regular basis. Even though guests never see them, they can attract pests and can be a breeding ground for bacteria and mold.

Here is a photo of the side of a stove we deep cleaned today that had been pulled away from the wall. The owners would never have believed it if we had not taken pictures.

Deep cleans ARE important.

Today I cleaned a condo for the first time. Up until two weeks ago, this condo was being cleaned by someone else. THIS is why people call me almost every day wanted Jiffy Clean to be their condo cleaning company. Zoom in on the before and after shots of this shower rail to get the full effect.

I generally clean condos barefoot. Today I cleaned a condo for the first time. I'm thinking the previous cleaners probably NEVER mopped the floor. I had to change the mop water 6 times in a 600 square foot condo. Yeesh.

It boggles my mind how some people cannot grasp the concept of "clean". When you agree to clean something, you are agreeing to do whatever it takes to make it CLEAN. Be that scrubbing with a brush, or a magic eraser...getting on your hands and knees...working at a dirty oven for a HOUR if necessary. What clean does NOT MEAN, is squirting it with some cleaner and rubbing a rag over it for 3 seconds. SHAKE. MY. HEAD

I ask my cleaners to get DOWN ON THE FLOOR when they are cleaning. When they ask me why, I tell them, "If I came in here and told you I put a 1/4 carat diamond some place on this floor, how would you look for it?" Most people would gladly go down on their hands and knees to look for a valuable diamond.

I ask the cleaners "why would you look on your hands and knees?" And they answer, "because it's small and hard to see. You have to get down to the floor to see it".

If you can't see a diamond standing up, then you can't see a hair, or a crumb either. THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE TO CLEAN THE FLOOR FROM THE VANTAGE POINT WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE SMALL STUFF.

I really do not to say negative things about other cleaners because I am not perfect and make mistakes. That being said. I cleaned a condo for the first time today. How long do you think its been since the previous cleaner looked in the drawers of the couch end tables? Hmmmmm?
