Preparing for the annual Diwali ki safai can seem like a daunting task, requiring meticulous cleaning of every corner in your home.
But fear not, as we have some DIY cleaning hacks to simplify your life. Plus they are non toxic and safe for your Family and pets
1. Lemon and Salt Scrub: Dealing with stubborn stains and grime on sinks and metal surfaces can be challenging. However, a straightforward mixture of equal parts lemon juice and salt can perform wonders. This homemade scrub ensures your surfaces gleam, looking as good as new.
2. Vinegar Window Wash: For dusty windows, especially in urban areas, a blend of water and white vinegar is the perfect solution. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle for streak-free and sparkling windows. Achieve a flawless finish by using microfiber towels to wipe them clean.
3. Baking Soda for Carpets: Revitalize rusty or odorous carpets with a quick fix—sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, letting it sit for 15 minutes. Then, vacuum the carpet to eliminate any lingering odors, leaving it with a fresh and pleasant scent.
4. Steam Cleaning for Microwaves: Microwaves can become breeding grounds for germs and dirt. To restore them, place a bowl of water with a few lemon slices in the microwave and heat it for a few minutes. The steam will loosen the dirt, making it easy to wipe the microwave clean from the inside.
5. Pet Hair Remover: If your pets leave their loose furry hair on furniture and carpets, a simple solution is to don rubber gloves. The gloves will attract and collect the loose pet hair, making it easy to maintain a fur-free environment.
6. Declutter: Diwali provides the perfect opportunity to declutter your living space. Designate a dustbin, go through items in your room, and decide whether they belong there or should be discarded. This is an excellent way to free your space from unnecessary clutter.
7. Sofa Cleaning: Sofas often accumulate stains, dirt, and dust. To breathe new life into them, concoct a cleaning mixture with one spoon of baking soda, a few drops of Dettol, and some dishwashing liquid. Dip a microfiber towel into the solution, secure it around a bowl, and use it to clean your sofa. Complete the process by brushing the sofa with a dry-cleaning brush for that perfect final touch.
8. Burnt Food in Pots and Pans: Dealing with burnt food in pots and pans can be frustrating, but a simple solution involves liberally sprinkling baking soda in the pan and adding just enough water to moisten it. Allow it to stand for several hours, and you'll find that the burnt food can generally be lifted right out of the pan
9. Garbage Disposal Cleaning: As part of your regular kitchen cleaning routine, don't overlook your garbage disposal, especially if it accumulates leftover food and grease. To clean and sharpen the blades simultaneously, generously sprinkle baking soda and pour white vinegar until it bubbles. Let it set for ten minutes, rinse with hot water, and then add two or three ice cubes to the disposal and grind. Finish by rinsing again with hot water, leaving your disposal clean and odor-free.
10. Household Odor Removal: Kitchen cleaning extends to eliminating cooking or other unpleasant odors in your home. Try these methods:
• Simmer a pot filled with stick cinnamon, orange peel, whole cloves, and water on your stove.
• Place small bowls of vinegar around the room as it absorbs lingering odors.
• Sprinkle cinnamon on a cookie sheet and warm it in the oven for a natural and pleasant aroma.
