Let’s replace a heat pump!

This heat pump was “turning on” OK but after about 5 min, the compressor would kick on and then the unit would trip the circuit breaker. We tried a few less expensive solutions - replace the fan/compressor capacitor, replace the fan motor itself, but eventually we discovered it was compressor voltage backfeeding through the fan motor coil. It was curtains for the old girl.
So, in with the new! We installed the new heat pump the very next day! The customer was so happy - we performed some additional work… stay tuned!

Let’s get ready for the Super Bowl in AZ!
Today, Mr G had a rental with an above ground hot tub. It just stopped heating - well thats because the pump motor went out. We had a new pump installed inside of 24 hrs from diagnosis. Heating back up to a luxurious 104! 😎

Today, Mr T had the grandkids over and they enjoyed the spa. Once they were gone, he noticed the spa was losing water.

”Surely they didn’t splash out a foot of water!?”

We troubleshot this to a leak on his pump and a leak on his heater. He has yet to address the leak on his heater, but we replaced the o-rings and shaft seal on the pump. The leak persisted so we went a little further with our diagnosis and replaced the seal plate (must have been warped slightly). This SEALED the deal (see what I did there?). 🤣
The pump no longer leaks! Grandkids be hot-tubbin’!

You probably noticed a significant leak on the heater still… stay tuned to see if he has a replace the heater. 👍

Today, Mrs N called us because her filter pump was making a terrible racket. It was the bearings, and the pump motor was end-of-life. We upgraded the pump to a variable speed which will add longevity and minimal noise, not to mention saving her $800-1200/yr in electrical costs.

Let’s fix another heater!

Today, Mr K had family coming into town and a heater that was not working. As you can see in the pictures, pack rats had moved into the heater! The exhaust flue sensor was a victim of their rampant wire chewing. A quick replacement and the hot tub was ready for family!

Should we do another filter install?

Today, Mr M asked us to replace his old DE filter. His backwash valve had cracked and instead of throwing good money after bad, it was time to upgrade!

We cut out the cracked backwash valve and old filter and plumbed in a new cartridge filter sized appropriate to his pool gallonage. He doesn't have a spa or a heater, so let's say HE BE FILTERIN'!! 🤣

We plan on doing some pebble tec repairs for Mr M come this spring so stay tuned!

Today, Mr G had a heat pump that was not heating. Unfortunately, the display wasn't working either. After troubleshooting the system, the answer was the same: a faulty control board was causing the heat pump compressor to kick off. The faulty display is also built into the control board. So - we replaced the control board and HE BE HOT-TUBBIN!

Today, Ms U was dealing with unbearable pump noise coming into her home. As you can see, the pipes had been wrapped and even a "noise coffin" created to help dampen the noise. But nothing was working. Finally, she called the experts! She asked us to relocate the pump to help with the noise. We were happy to oblige!
We followed up the next day to see if it had improved her situation. Her response: "OMG. I have my life back😊"

I know it probably seems like I have a few pack rats on the payroll... 🤣

Today, Mrs V contacted us because her pool heater wasn't working. The first thing wrong was a chewed ribbon going from the display board to the control board. But this rats hunger for chewing had only begun!!!

We discovered he also got the thermistor wires! After replacing both of these items, THEY BE HOT-TUBBIN! 🔥

Ah - the blessings and the curses of pool heat pumps! They save so much money - but it really needs to be above 50 deg F...

Ah - the blessings and the curses of pool heat pumps! They save so much money - but it really needs to be above 50 deg F to pull heat out of the air and put it in your pool water.

Today, Mr R had an air bnb (we work on a lot of air bnbs!) that another pool company had installed automation and a heat pump. When he had a problem getting his pool up to temp, guess who wouldn't return his calls? Yes, the pool company that installed it. 🤦‍♂️ So, he called in the experts - Precision Aquatics, Inc. 💪

This heat pump was so iced up... (check out the attached pictures) We defrosted it and removed the sun shade above the heat pump that was directing cold discharge air back around the cabinet and freezing the unit up. Followed up a few days after and Mr R said they actually hit their set point (83 deg) - something they had been struggling with for a year! Guess whose air bnb guest stays are so much better now?!
