We call this place… “THE SECRET PARK!” 🌳✨
Tillery Park in Fort Worth is a wonderful place to take your kiddos of all ages, and I’ll tell you why.
There’s enough equipment for small children while still offering challenges for bodies with longer arms and legs. My kids range from 4–12 years old, so finding a place that meets the needs of everybody — AND has a bench for dear old Mom to disassociate on — is a rare discovery indeed. 😂
This park also has an old-school carousel without too stringent of a governor, which means those wild little people can actually get some momentum going.
If your kids are anything like mine, they aren’t content until their lives are slightly hanging in the balance.
And if you’re anything like me, you’re desensitized enough to let them discover a few mortality boundaries. Within reason. 😂
There’s also a standing spinner/torture device, and I have several times lost my laughter watching unsuspecting adults take a turn on that thing. Truly, it goes SO FAST. It suspends its victims inside a thin, bird-like cage structure and must be greased with something that only has industrial applications.
Of course, there are swings, shade, benches and tables. 🌳
But the playground alone isn’t what makes this our favorite park.
Behind it is a huge, expansive stretch of open land, followed by a viewing cliff — and, as if that weren’t enough, trails leading down into partially wooded areas.
For my family, I bring a chair and waters and get settled in. The spacious playing land seems to always ignite my children’s imaginations.
And if you happened to visit during the summer of 2025, you may have heard of a mysterious teepee erected at this park.
I’m proud to say that particular act of hooliganism was us. 😂🪵
Four wild little people rallied all the other park rats to hunt down long sticks, beams and whatever else they could manage to build a teepee.
And y’all.
It was magnificent.
IT LASTED ALMOST A MONTH.
In fact, we’d come back and discover that other kids had renovated it, changed it or added something new. 🥹
Don’t get me wrong — just like all things, the magic starts within you.
But this park seems to hold magic extraordinarily well. ✨🌳🌙
