Here's the #1 mistake I see with notary paperwork: signing the document BEFORE you get to the notary.

Don't do it — I have to actually watch you sign it. If it's already signed, we have to start over.

Bring these 3 things and you're in and out:
✅ A valid photo ID
✅ Your unsigned document
✅ Everyone who needs to sign, present in person

That's it. No second trip, no rejected paperwork, no delay.

Self-employed friends — those business miles are money, but only if you log them.

Client visits, supply runs, job-site trips — they add up. What doesn't count: your regular commute and personal trips.

Here's the part that makes it real: business miles are 76¢ per mile right now. So 100 business miles = $76 in deductions. But ghost miles you never wrote down? Gone. 👻

Create a simple shoe system:

👟 Keep everyday pairs near the entry
🧺 Use one basket for sandals or slippers
📦 Store seasonal shoes elsewhere
🧹 Keep only the pairs you actually wear
🏷️ Label bins if more than one person shares the space

⏰ OCTOBER 15 — that's this Thursday.

If you filed an extension on your 2025 taxes back in April, Thursday is your FINAL deadline to get that return filed. Not another extension. The real one.

Quick reminder: the extension gave you more time to FILE — not more time to pay. Anything you owed was due in April, and interest is already running on it.

Miss Thursday? The failure-to-file penalty is 5% of what you owe, per month, up to 25%. That's real money on top of real money.
