September 1st, 2023, marks a new beginning in my life. I am passing the torch of ownership of my business LandMarkPestandWildlifeSolutions.com to my wonderful son-in-law, Jonathan Hardy.

I will be spending more time with family and travel. I will continue giving CEU training hours for Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina. My career in the bug and wildlife business has been an exciting ride. Thank you for supporting me through the years!

I am excited about serving as Co-Chair for Ga Pest Control Association’s Conference at UGA ABAC’s facility this coming October! As a Past President of GPCA (1994) it is very humbling for me! Thanks Gary and Connie! This will be my 4th time in this role but it’s been awhile! I can’t wait!

If you have a dog or cat, then this is a good read for you!

It’s the time of year when Asian Lady Beetles (Not to be confused with Lady Bugs) will try to make entry into your home. While they are pretty much harmless, there is a risk to pets that you should be aware of.

When the Asian Lady Beetle is killed it secretes a thick sticky substance. If your pet is a “Bug Chaser/Eater” then this is when it can get a little dangerous, the sticky substance will make the beetle stick to the mouth of your pet. If not removed, they cause mouth ulcers…. Just google “Dog Mouth and Asian Lady Beetle”

Stink bugs have always been a common insect in Georgia; however, in recent years, there have been more and more stink bugs popping up, much to the frustration and anger of homeowners. Once you spot one stink bug, there are usually dozens to follow. September is the time of year when stink bugs become very active and try to find shelter from the coming winter in your home or business.

As for prevention Mark suggests sealing all cracks around windows, doors, siding, utility pipes, behind chimneys and underneath the wood fascia and other openings with high quality silicone or silicone-latex caulk. It is also suggested to remove wall and window air conditioners; replacing worn weather stripping around doors and windows may help as well.
