# WE WERE THERE
**February 2010 — Snowmageddon**
In February 2010, Harford County experienced one of the most memorable winter weather events in its history. Two massive snowstorms struck just days apart, burying neighborhoods, shutting down roads, and leaving homeowners dealing with damage that would continue for weeks.
For those of us at Duraclean, it was a winter we will never forget.
As the snow piled up, so did the calls for help. Frozen and burst pipes, ice dams, roof leaks, and water damage were creating serious problems for homeowners throughout the area.
But getting to those homes was often as challenging as dealing with the damage itself.
I remember purchasing **two snow shovels for every Duraclean van.** Our crews weren't just responding to water damage. In many cases, they were shoveling their way through courts and driveways just to reach the front doors of the customers who needed us.
And unlike most storms, where the worst damage occurs within a relatively short period, Snowmageddon was different.
With two major storms hitting back-to-back, the problems continued long after the snow stopped falling. As temperatures changed and the enormous amounts of snow and ice began to melt, additional water damage kept appearing in homes throughout the region.
**For weeks, our crews continued responding, helping homeowners recover one property at a time.**
Looking back, what stands out isn't just how much snow fell. It's the determination of our employees to get the job done, even when simply reaching the job was an obstacle.
Forty years in business has taught us that every disaster brings its own challenges. Sometimes helping a customer starts long before you ever walk through their front door.
