As a professional cleaner, I wish more people knew the difference between CLEANING 🧼 and DISINFECTING 🦠
They are NOT the same thing!
🧼 CLEANING PRODUCTS = remove dirt, grime, grease & buildup
Some examples:
• Dawn
• Mr. Clean
• Pine-Sol
• Zep
• Bar Keepers Friend
• The Pink Stuff
• Scrubbing Bubbles
• Windex
• CLR
🦠 DISINFECTING PRODUCTS = designed to kill specific germs on surfaces
Some examples:
• Clorox Disinfecting Wipes
• Lysol Disinfecting Wipes
• Lysol Disinfectant Spray
• Clorox Disinfecting Mist
• Microban 24 Disinfectant Spray
• OdoBan products labeled for disinfection
• EPA-registered hydrogen peroxide disinfectants
• Bleach products labeled for disinfection
✨ The easiest way to remember:
CLEAN = remove the mess.
DISINFECT = kill germs.
And yes, you can have a surface that is clean but not disinfected... and you can disinfect a surface without actually removing all the dirt and grime first.
If a surface is visibly dirty, clean it first, then disinfect when disinfection is actually needed. Always follow the product label, including the required contact/wet time.
SAVE THIS for your next cleaning day! 🧼✨
