🐸 PSA 💚

With all the recent rain in Northeast Florida, we're seeing a lot more green tree frogs around screen enclosures, outdoor lights, gutters, and soffits.

This is one of their busiest times of year as breeding season is in full swing and young frogs are beginning to appear throughout our neighborhoods.

Before pressure washing or cleaning around your home, take a quick look in shaded areas, around lights, and on screen enclosures. These little frogs love cool hiding spots and often go unnoticed.

When we find them, we simply move them to a safe nearby area before getting started.

A few extra seconds can make a big difference for some of our favorite backyard neighbors. 🐸💚

Protecting Your Home Like It’s Our Own

A successful house wash is about much more than just cleaning. Before we ever begin applying cleaning solutions, we take the time to protect the details that matter most.

From exterior lighting and decorative fixtures to door hardware, electronics, cameras, outlets, and delicate landscaping, every home receives a customized protection plan.

Sensitive areas are covered, plants are thoroughly pre-soaked and rinsed, and special attention is given to high-end finishes to help ensure a safe and effective cleaning process.

Whether we're cleaning your siding, porch, screen enclosure, windows, or outdoor living areas, our goal is simple: deliver outstanding results while treating your property with the same care and attention we would our own.

It's the extra steps before the cleaning begins that help create the exceptional experience our customers have come to expect.

DIY FRI: Protect Your Plants Like a Pro During a House Wash

As it’s a holiday weekend, a lot of people will be taking advantage of the extra time off—and this is also the time of year most homeowners start washing their homes to remove algae. With that in mind, here’s a quick tip on how we protect your home’s landscaping… and we thought we’d share it.

Plants will absorb whatever hits them first, so always start by thoroughly soaking them and the surrounding soil with clean water. This creates a protective buffer before any chemicals are applied.

Next, use tall garden stakes to build a simple frame around delicate plants. This keeps any coverings from resting directly on the leaves.

Drape lightweight tarps over the stakes in a tent-like setup. This allows airflow while protecting from overspray without crushing or overheating the plants.

Once everything is protected, proceed with your house wash. Be mindful of spray direction and keep your application controlled.

As soon as you're done, remove the tarps right away. Leaving them on too long can trap heat and moisture, which can damage or even kill plants.

Finish by rinsing everything again thoroughly with fresh water to remove any remaining residue.

Pro tip: rinse plants indirectly. Let the water fall over them like rain instead of hitting them directly with pressure. This helps protect delicate leaves and stems from damage.

A little prep goes a long way. Protect your plants. Protect your landscape.

If you’d rather have us handle it, Glass and Grass has you covered. We offer house washing, window cleaning, screen enclosure cleaning, gutter cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and paver sealing.

⚠️ Stage III Water Restrictions Update – What This Means for Pressure Washing ⚠️

We’ve had a lot of questions about the recent SJRWMD announcement and what “additional restrictions” means for pressure washing.

Official SJRWMD source:
https://www.sjrwmd.com/wateringrestrictions/

SJRWMD states that “aesthetic water use is prohibited” and that additional restrictions apply to pressure washing.

To help explain clarify what "additional restrictions" means, here’s a recent local ordinance explaining it in detail:

https://www.howey.org/m/newsflash/home/detail/26

“Pressure or soft washing… is allowed only for necessary maintenance — such as preserving a warranty or removing mold, mildew, or hazardous materials…”

What this means for homeowners:

Not all pressure washing is restricted.

The focus is on limiting cosmetic cleaning, not stopping necessary maintenance.

Aesthetic (Restricted)
• Cleaning just for appearance
• Routine washing with no buildup
• Rinsing off caterpillar or cocoon residue just for looks

Maintenance (Allowed)
• Removing algae, mold, and mildew
• Cleaning slippery surfaces for safety
• Prepping surfaces for sealing or painting
• Meeting warranty requirements
