Timing your cold plunge matters more than most people think.

Before a workout: great for alertness and a wake-up boost, but very cold exposure right before lifting may reduce muscle performance.

After a workout: useful for soreness and recovery, but frequent immediate cold exposure after resistance training may reduce some muscle-growth adaptations.

Best move? Match the plunge to your goal.

Red light therapy is more than just standing in front of a warm glow.

Specific red and near-infrared wavelengths are used to target biological processes involved in cellular energy, circulation, and recovery. But the setup matters — wavelength, intensity, distance from the panel, and session length can all affect the experience.

The takeaway: better equipment + proper use matters more than simply “more light.”

The longer you stay in a sauna, the better the results… right? Not necessarily.

As your session continues, your heart rate stays elevated, your body keeps working to regulate heat, and fluid loss continues to increase.

That means longer sessions can also bring a higher risk of dehydration, dizziness, overheating, and feeling drained afterward especially if you’re not properly hydrated or accustomed to the heat.

For many people, the goal should be a quality session, not the longest session possible.

Traditional sauna sessions are commonly kept around the 15–20 minute range, depending on temperature, experience level, hydration, and how you feel.

More time ≠ automatically more benefit.

Listen to your body. Hydrate. Get out if you feel dizzy, weak, nauseous, or uncomfortable.

Save this for your next sauna session.

Most people think the longer you sit in a sauna, the better.

That’s not exactly how it works. Let’s take a look.

These typical heat associations are based on a traditional dry sauna and temperatures ranging from 175-195°F

Your body starts responding within the first few minutes: skin temperature rises, blood vessels begin to dilate, heart rate increases, and your heat-regulation system kicks in. As the session continues, sweating increases, circulation stays elevated, and the cardiovascular demand becomes more noticeable.

By the 20–30 minute range, you’re not necessarily unlocking “more benefits” just because you stay longer. You’re also increasing fluid loss, dehydration risk, and the chance of overheating.

Slow down. Let the heat do the rest.

There’s a version of you that’s calmer, looser, more recovered that ever before. They are just on the other side of 20 minutes in here.
