Dear Friends,
North Dallas is expecting a freeze starting this weekend and into the early part of next week.
Please remember to do the following as we are only at your property once a week:
1. Top off the water in the pool (up to half way up the tile band/into the skimmers). We recommend doing this right before the freezing weather begins.
2. Disconnect your hose, including over-the-deck auto fills, and keep them in the garage to prevent them from freezing; then cover your faucets. This is so you can add more water to the pool, just in case. The goal is to make sure the system can circulate water and prevent lines from freezing.
3. Make sure the pool pump/s are running when temperature drops below 32-degrees F. If you have a freeze guard, most will engage around 34 to 38-degrees F.
4. Cover your equipment with a tarp or a blanket. This will help insulate the equipment against the cold. Do NOT cover your heater if you are heating the pool or hot tub, this is a fire hazard! If you are considering covering your equipment do not wrap the motors tightly as they need to breathe. Instead set the tarp/blanket up like a tent where warm air from the motors is contained under the cover, but the motors can still get good airflow under the cover.
5. If you lose power for an extended period, winterizing your equipment may be necessary to avoid excessive damage. There are a lot of videos online (ie: youtube.com) that can visually walk you through this process... DO NOT WINTERIZE IF YOUR EQUIPMENT IS LOWER THAN YOUR POOL
(A) Turn off power kill switches (service disconnects) or breakers to the pool equipment,
(B) Drain the water from the pool equipment by taking off pump lids, pulling plugs, opening backwash valves and air relief valves, and
(C) Cover the equipment with tarps/blankets.
These are a few videos we’ve found very useful:

6. Know if the roads are unsafe, we will not service pools that day. Main roads and highways are usually serviced, but small and residential roads, especially not back alleys. We will catch up.
7. During an emergency please Text our office number 214-361-7665 for afterhours assistance. We sleep as well, so it is not 24-hours. We also have an emergency button at www.haydenpools.com
Tools to have available:
• Hose (keep this in the garage so it does not freeze)
• Plyers and screw drivers (to winterize pumps)
• Tarp
• Faucet covers
• Water meter Key
If you would like us to winterize your water features this week: Please call/text us at 214-361-7665 and we will make sure this is done before the cold weather.
Best regards,
