Terrazzo restoration at a federal institution in Washington, D.C.

Years of heavy foot traffic, mineral buildup, and improper cleaning had left this terrazzo dull, stained, and nearly unrecognizable. The aggregate was buried under layers of grime and the original finish was completely gone.

Our process:

1. Strip all existing coatings and buildup down to the raw substrate
2. Lab match the original aggregate — resin color, chip color/size breakdown, and density matched to the existing terrazzo
3. Pour new terrazzo in damaged and missing sections to blend seamlessly with the original floor
4. Diamond grind and hone through progressive grits to remove scratches and provide a consistent, refined surface
5. Polish to the specified sheen
6. Seal and protect for long-term durability under daily institutional traffic

This floor previously had a Starbucks kiosk sitting on that terrazzo and after they removed it, pipe holes and overall destruction to the floor occurred.
