Here are some facts about mosquitos that you may or may not know !

-Only females bite.

-The life cycle consists of egg,larva,pupa,and adult stage. Each stage lasts 5-14 days.The female lays her eggs in or near water. Eggs hatch to become larva which grow until they become pupa. The adult mosquito emerges from the adult pupa as it floats at the water surface.

-Mosquitos are important vectors of parasitsitic diseases such as Malaria.Filariasis and Arboviral diseases such as Yellow Fever, Chilungunya,West Nile,Dengue Fever,and Zika.

-Mosquitos cause the deaths of more people than any other animal taxon: over 700,000 each year.
