🍂 A Little Fall Maintenance Can Prevent a Big Winter Loss
Cooler mornings are starting to arrive, and before we know it, furnaces will be running and homes will be closed up for the season.
Now is a good time to take a few simple precautions:
✓ Have your heating system professionally inspected and serviced.
✓ Replace furnace filters and check around the system for signs of soot.
✓ Inspect chimneys, fireplaces, and vents before the first fire of the season.
✓ Check exposed plumbing and identify pipes that may need insulation before freezing temperatures arrive.
✓ Clean gutters and make sure water can drain properly away from the home.
✓ Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
A little preventative maintenance now can help reduce the chance of puffbacks, frozen pipes, ice dams, fires, and water losses later this winter.
And when the unexpected does happen, remember that affected clothing and household textiles aren’t automatically a total loss. Professional evaluation can often determine what can be restored.
