Just visited a clients home today because she was feeling terrible with dizziness and ringing of the ears. She also said that much of the metal in her home was rusting and corroding, which I did notice.

But as soon as I walked in, the pungent smell of ozone about knocked me over. She has been running two ozone machines consistently for weeks to try to get rid of whatever’s making her feel sick, not realizing this whole time she is making herself sicker than ever with this heavy ozone exposure!

Folks, be careful with these air cleaners, especially the ones that emit ozone. I told her the dangers and she turned them off immediately, and we opened up the windows in her home. She has seen many doctors that have found nothing wrong with her, but she has not told them about her ozone machines. I’m hoping she tells me in a few days that she is feeling wonderful. We went ahead and did some mold testing just to be safe, but I really feel the corrosion and the way she feels is all due to elevated ozone.

Noise Dosimetry is the appropriate method of determining a workers noise exposure levels as well as determining the employers compliance with the OSHA Noise Standard (29 CFR 1910.95).
P.A.C.E. Field Services, Inc. offers noise survey services in the greater Evansville, IN area.
A small noise meter is worn by the employee for a work shift. This noise dosimeter takes a sound measurement – usually at 1/2 to 1 second interval’s and accumulates the data over the work shift. The results are then compared to the OSHA Exposure Limits.
As part of our on-site noise surveys, we can provide a “noise map”, usually on a floor plan, to identify areas that may exceed the 85 dB-A Hearing Conservation Action Level or the 90 dB-A Compliance Level. As per OSHA requirements, we identify at-risk job categories and provide personal noise dosimetry surveys to determine employee noise exposure as these employees move about their work area. This is crucial since noise levels vary between areas.

The OSHA Noise Standard requires any facility where worker noise exposure equals or exceeds 85 dB-A to implement a Hearing Conservation Program. Where noise levels equal or exceed 90&BA, hearing protection is mandatory as well as mandatory noise reduction efforts. In this age of personal electronic devices, hearing loss is becoming increasingly prevalent. Unless employers engage in proactive noise assessment such as a noise survey, noise control and Hearing Conservation Programs, employees may be able to turn hearing loss from personal habits into an occupational issue, with legal and financial ramifications for employers.

If you are in Evansville, Newburgh, Mt. Vernon, Jasper, Vincennes, Princeton, Petersburg, or other surrounding cities give us a call. We also service Henderson, Owensboro, Morganfield, and Madisonville, in Kentucky, and all areas in between.
