Most brides are told “don’t open your preservation box!”

We do the opposite.

When your gown is finished, we walk you through everything at your pickup appointment… just like this.

How to open it
How to check your dress
How to refresh it
How to put it all back together

Because your gown isn’t meant to be locked away forever. It’s meant to be preserved and understood.

Nothing about it should feel like a mystery… and you should be able to actually see your gown, confirm it was beautifully cleaned, and know everything actually made it inside.

You’ll also notice little details like:
• foam bust cups stored separately to prevent yellowing
• multiple breathable, acid-free layers that keep your gown stable long-term
• cotton gloves included so you can safely handle it

And yes, you always have access to your dress.

The only rule is:
if it comes out and is worn, it just needs to be professionally cleaned before going back in.

It’s a completely different experience than traditional “seal it and forget it” preservation.

And once you see it… it just makes sense.

Yellowed sequins all over your mom’s dress? Here’s how to prevent it on yours.

This is a result of ✨oxidation✨

Over time, fabrics and embellishments react with oxygen, light, heat, and environmental pollutants. When a gown is stored in less-than-favorable places like garages, attics, or damp basements, paired with poor storage containers like plastic bags or a cardboard preservation box that can acidify over time, that process speeds up quickly.

Add in leftover residues from never being cleaned or poor cleaning like sweat, body oils, and sugar from drinks, and you have the perfect recipe for long-term damage.

We can often improve oxidation on fabrics like satin and lace.

But sequins? Not so forgiving.

Many are made from materials that degrade over time, and once they yellow or break down, it is usually permanent.

The good news is this is largely preventable!

Getting your gown properly cleaned soon after the wedding and storing it in stable, cardboard-free archival materials, in a controlled indoor environment, makes all the difference in how it will look decades from now.

✨ Take care of it now so it still looks beautiful for years to come.

We love a dirty dress! 🤍

Because it usually means one thing… that wedding was a GOOD time. A little rain, a packed dance floor, a few drinks… it all tells the story of a day fully lived.

This one has a little bit of everything, and those are always the most satisfying transformations. ✨

The key is getting it cleaned as soon as possible so those stains don’t have time to fully set into the fabric.

Now the real work begins… and this one is going to be SO good.

✨ You’ll have to wait a bit for the final reveal, but trust me… it’s worth it.

Your dress is dirtier than you think!

Most brides notice the obvious stains after the wedding. Some dirt on the hem. Maybe a drink spill or two.

But what you don’t see right away is everything else that settles into the fabric throughout the day. Sweat, body oils, perfume, champagne, frosting, makeup, and more dirt than you realize layered throughout the skirt.

By the time we fully open up the gown and inspect it, there is often a lot more going on than it first appeared.

That is why professional cleaning as soon after the wedding as possible is so important! Lifting those stains safely takes careful inspection, the right cleaning chemistry, and sometimes multiple rounds to bring the fabric back without damaging it.

And this gown cleaned up beautifully! ✨

After a final press, it was carefully layered with archival tissue and preserved in our muslin-lined, cardboard-free preservation box so it can be protected for decades to come.

This surprises a lot of brides!

When a gown comes in after the wedding, the train is usually bustled. At first glance, it might not look too bad. Maybe just a little dirt along the hem.

But when we undo the bustle… that is when the real story shows up.

With a ballgown bustle, the train is lifted and clipped underneath the skirt so it can be danced in all night. That creates a second contact point with the floor right through the middle of the train.

So you end up with layers of dirt.

The first layer comes from when the train was down earlier in the day, gliding across the aisle, the grass, sidewalks, and photo locations.

The second layer comes later from dancing, walking, and moving all night with the bustle in place.

Once we open everything up, we can see the full picture. Sometimes that means heavy dirt, drink spills, body oils, or even mildew starting to form.

These kinds of set-in stains often take multiple rounds of specialty cleaning to lift safely without damaging the fabric.

But when done carefully, we can remove a significant amount and bring the gown back beautifully.

Remember the dirty beach dress?

The one covered in sand, dirt, and spilled drinks from a night well spent on the dance floor?

Here she is. ✨ Bright white and clean again.

This gown was layered with beach sand, body oils, and drink residue that had settled deep into the fibers. It took patience, multiple rounds of specialty cleaning, and careful attention to protect the integrity of the fabric while lifting everything out.

If you look VERY closely in just the right light, you may see the faintest whisper of pink in a few of the most stubborn areas. When stains are deeply embedded, perfection isn’t always realistic — but preservation done well absolutely is.

After final cleaning and photos, we gave her one last fresh press, carefully folded and layered her with archival tissue, and preserved her in our muslin-lined, cardboard-free preservation box with an embroidered lapel.

✨ So… when are you bringing in YOUR dress?

The worst wedding dress preservation method I have ever seen…

I saw a bridal seamstress recommend vacuum sealing a wedding dress in a plastic storage bag and I think my soul left my body.

Please do not store your wedding dress like this. Ever.

Wedding gowns are made with delicate materials like tulle, horsehair hems, lace, and structured fabrics. Vacuum sealing compresses everything so tightly that permanent hard wrinkles can form over time. Decades later, those creases can be extremely difficult, and sometimes impossible, to remove.

Then there is the material itself. These plastic bags are not textile-safe. Over time plastic breaks down, off-gasses, and oxidizes, which can lead to yellowing and damage to delicate fibers, beads, and sequins.

And finally, contaminants. Sealing a dress in plastic does not protect it. It locks everything inside with the gown. Body oils, sweat, sugar from drinks, dirt, and any residues left from improper cleaning all remain trapped.

Proper wedding dress preservation starts with professional cleaning and continues with stable archival materials designed for long-term textile care.

You invested a lot into your wedding dress and alterations. This is not the place to DIY.

✨ Bring your gown to professionals who understand bridal construction and long-term textile care.

Finally, the reveal!

This gown may always stand out as one of the most challenging stains my dry cleaner partner and I have ever tackled. Not because it was a ballgown bustle stain, but because what was embedded in the fibers was layer upon layer of dirt, oil, tar, grease, and city grime from a night spent dancing through the streets of Chicago and having the time of their lives.

Each type of residue had to be lifted differently, carefully, and intentionally, all while preserving the integrity, finish, and strength of the fabric itself.

It took 17 rounds of specialty cleaning to get her to this point! 😱

If you look very closely, in just the right light, you may notice the faintest ghosting in a few of the worst areas. That is a realistic and honest result when stains are this deeply embedded. Even with that, this gown is still absolutely beautiful and fully wearable again.

After cleaning and final photos, she received one more fresh press, then was carefully preserved using layers of archival tissue and intentional folding to prevent hard creases from forming. She was placed into our specialty muslin-lined, cardboard-free, museum-quality preservation box, and finished with a custom muslin cover. A small but meaningful touch to honor such an important gown.

This dress tells a story of joy, celebration, and a wedding day lived to the fullest. I’m so proud of what we were able to do for her!

Blink and you’ll miss it. We won’t.

Before any gown is cleaned or preserved, we do a full hands-on inspection, marking every stain and area of concern. Satin gowns are especially tricky because stains can disappear or reappear depending on the light and angle, which is why this step is so important.

Taking the time to slow down and really look at the fabric helps ensure nothing gets missed and every stain has the best possible chance of being treated properly.

This is the kind of detailed, thoughtful care your wedding gown deserves.
