Not all pool service companies are created equal! That’s why choosing an experienced pool professional matters.

Today, we welcomed a new customer whose five-year-old pool is in great shape, but whose equipment wasn’t operating properly. The spa heater was turning on unexpectedly, and the pump schedules made little sense.

So they called their local Pentair Pros. Hey, at least I’m a pro at something! Haha.

Here’s what we found:

FIRST: The variable-speed pump was running WAY too fast! Higher RPMs don’t always produce significantly more water flow because plumbing and hydraulics have limits. We reduced the RPMs while maintaining essentially the same gallons per minute, saving electricity and reducing unnecessary strain on the pump.

SECOND: The schedules were all over the place. We adjusted the system to run at high speed first for cleaning and circulation, followed immediately by a longer, energy-efficient, low-speed filtration cycle. It’s not just how LONG your pump runs—it’s HOW it runs!

THIRD: The Venturi skimmer wasn’t working properly. A vacuum was connected, and the skimmer door was missing. We removed the vacuum, installed the door, adjusted the valves to improve main-drain circulation, and verified that the in-floor cleaning zones were cycling correctly.

FINALLY: The automation settings were causing the spa to heat when no one wanted it heated. We corrected the schedules so the customer can turn on the spa and heater through the app only when needed.

The result? Better circulation, proper skimming, efficient filtration, corrected heating controls, and less wasted electricity.

And we did it WITHOUT replacing expensive equipment!

Pool care involves much more than brushing walls, emptying baskets, and adding chemicals. Understanding hydraulics, water chemistry, filtration, and automation can make a huge difference in performance, energy costs, and equipment life.

There are plenty of pool companies out there. Do your research and hire someone who truly understands how your system works.

Early morning breakfast meeting with the crew!

A little McDonald’s breakfast, some training, going over expectations, and getting everyone ready for the upcoming filter clean season.

ABC Pool Service is extremely blessed to have such a great crew. These guys show up early every morning ready to work, take pride in what they do, and work hard to get the job done right. That kind of consistency and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed.

A simple mistake turned into major pool equipment damage.

This negative-edge pool has equipment below the water level, so the valves must be adjusted properly when cleaning the pump basket. Unfortunately, the valves weren’t returned to the correct positions.

When the pump restarted at around 3,000 RPM, it couldn’t move water. It began cavitating, creating extreme heat and pressure until the plumbing blew apart. Because the equipment sits below the pool, water continued flowing and flooded the equipment area.

After containing the leak, we found more issues:

• A knockoff salt cell was installed instead of the manufacturer-approved replacement—and it was already giving incorrect readings despite the pool’s salt level being nearly perfect.

• A knockoff module had been installed for an in-floor cleaning zone that wasn’t working.

• The module wasn’t the problem. The entire zone had been plumbed out of the system, meaning replacing more modules wouldn’t fix it.

This is why proper diagnosis matters. Replacing parts without identifying the real problem can cost you more money and leave the original issue unresolved.

💦 Another Estrella Mountain Ranch Pool Gets an Upgrade!

Another ABC Pool Service customer in Estrella Mountain Ranch just upgraded from an older single-speed pool pump to the new Pentair IntelliFlo3 Variable Speed & Flow Pool Pump — and the technology in these pumps is incredible.

Instead of simply turning a pump ON and running it at full speed like an old single-speed pump, we can actually monitor flow and see how many gallons per minute the pool’s plumbing system is moving. That allows our equipment technicians to dial in the pump specifically for that pool.

The result? This customer can run her pool pump LONGER while using roughly HALF the electricity her old single-speed pump was using. 🤯

And this brings up something we hear every summer in Goodyear…

“My electric bill went way up. Is my pool pump running too much?”

The math doesn’t lie.

At ABC Pool Service, we carefully program our variable-speed pool pumps to balance two things: keeping your pool clean, healthy and properly circulated while also keeping energy consumption as economical as possible.

In fact, many of our pool pump schedules stay relatively consistent throughout the year. What changes dramatically during an Arizona summer is how hard your air-conditioning system has to work when temperatures climb.

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. 👀

The reason we’re posting this? We were told there “wasn’t much value” in our weekly pool service.

We respectfully beg to differ.

For nearly two years, our team showed up EVERY SINGLE WEEK. We kept the pool clean, maintained the water chemistry, provided the chemicals, monitored the equipment, and made sure the pool was clean, safe, and ready to swim in.

No storing a bunch of pool chemicals at your house.
No testing water.
No brushing.
No cleaning baskets.
No wondering if someone is going to show up.

We just showed up and did our job. Week after week after week.

And here’s something the pictures don’t show: there were times this account fell several MONTHS behind on payments. Instead of immediately stopping service, we continued showing up and worked with the customer because we try to treat people the way we would want to be treated.

Now, after canceling service while again being two months behind, we’re told there wasn’t enough “value” in our service.

We’ll let the before-and-after photos speak for themselves.

Maybe the monsoon season has tested our patience a little 😂, but there absolutely IS value in hiring a dependable, licensed, bonded, and insured pool company that shows up every week, does what it says it’s going to do, supplies the chemicals, maintains your pool, and even gives you some grace when you’re behind on your bill.

If the electric company kept the lights on for months without being paid, we’d probably call that pretty good service too. 😂

We appreciate our customers tremendously, but we also appreciate our TEAM and the work they put in every single week. When they do a great job, we’re going to stand behind them.
