Meet Gabby! One of BOCES Cosmetology's most recent graduates!
Gabby came to us for help with getting on track in order to receive her diploma. She had a goal of learning to better communicate with her professors, which translates to communicating more effectively with her employer once she began working. Gabby's employment specialist, Sherry, worked with her instructors and determined that Gabby needed to focus on building her confidence and self-esteem, while earning 1,000 hours in order to graduate.
We were able to connect with Horseheads salon and new owner, Tracy Sparks. Tracy believes that education and bettering oneself is vital to growth, success, and self-esteem. Tracy's salon is not like other salons. Honeycomb Horseheads is a teaching salon, and Tracy fosters opportunities for students to build their skills, abilities, and clientele within a supportive work environment. It a very respectful and welcoming environment. Tracy and her team embrace diversity and inclusion, positive attitudes, professionalism, and encourage growth and learning.
Gabby has been working at Tracy's salon for the past month and a half and just received the 1,000 hours needed, as well as her diploma, from BOCES Cosmetology! Gaby plans to continue at Honeycomb, while she prepares for her licensing and board exams so that she can work with clients. Gabby specializes in braiding and men's cuts and is excited to continue her journey, while learning and growing in the field. We look forward to seeing Gabby's progress and are so proud of everything that she is accomplishing.
