My name is Ron and I detail cars and motorcycles from my garage in Elmhurst by appointment only. I also do paint polishing, paint correction, ceramic coating of paint, windows, and wheels. I had the pleasure of welcoming back a fellow First Responder, this time with his 2023 Lexus 300h Premium. I ceramic coated his Chevy Suburban back in 2024, and I appreciate him trusting me with another vehicle.

This Lexus received the full preparation process—a decontamination wash, clay bar treatment, iron decontamination, and paint correction—to get the finish ready for its coating. The prep is where the time and attention to detail really count, bringing out the paint’s clarity and shine before locking in the results.

Once everything was ready, I applied Undrdog Marine coating to the paint, plastics, and windshield for added protection and easier maintenance. It’s always a privilege to take care of those who serve our communities, and earning their repeat business makes it even better. Another First Responder vehicle is 10-8!

Every three months like clockwork, this 2022 Chevy Trax LT makes its way back to the 10-8 garage, and I’m always happy to see the wonderful customer behind the wheel. She’s one of the nicest people I have the pleasure of working with, and even though her Trax doesn’t get driven very often, she likes keeping it clean and looking its best. I gave the exterior a thorough soft water wash, followed by a ceramic sealant to boost that shine and add protection until her next visit. Inside, I refreshed and reset the cabin to bring everything back to showroom ready. I truly appreciate her continued trust and the opportunity to care for her car throughout the year. Looking forward to seeing her again in three months. This Chevy Trax is 10-8!

Ron Burgundy is back in the 10-8 garage! This 2024 Mercedes-Benz S63 E Performance belongs to a returning Elmhurst customer, and when I detailed it about six months ago, that nickname just fit. From the looks of things today, Mr. Burgundy hasn’t had a detail since. There was dirt EVERYWHERE, and plenty of it. The wheels were brown with brake dust, the door jambs were absolutely cooked, and the rocker panels looked like this luxury sedan had been four-wheeling in Baja. I had to bring out the heavy-duty chemicals and wheel acid to get those wheels back in line, along with my special voodoo sauce to handle the door jambs. Mr. Burgundy needed some tough love, and I was happy to oblige.

The interior was a much more straightforward job. My vacuum lines from the last visit were still hiding under the floor mats, which gave me a little satisfaction before I got to work refreshing everything inside. Three hours later, this Mercedes was looking like it belonged outside a five-star hotel again, and I finished in time to catch the opening kickoff of the Bears’ Thursday night game. Clean car, happy returning customer, and football on the clock. Let’s go, Bears! Mr. Burgundy is officially 10-8!

About a month ago, I detailed a police officer’s wife’s car, then the officer’s car—and today, it was the in-laws’ turn! This 2024 Subaru Outback Premium arrived fresh from Minnesota with plenty of road grime and an insect graveyard across the front end, windshield, and mirrors. I got to work removing those unwelcome souvenirs before giving the exterior a thorough hand wash with clean, deionized water. Then it was time to tackle the interior, where Subaru’s pile carpeting holds on to debris like a Venus flytrap. The air compressor and vacuum definitely pulled some overtime on this one, but patience and persistence paid off. With the interior reset and the exterior looking fresh again, this Minnesota Subaru is officially 10-8! Having one family trust me with vehicle after vehicle means a lot, and I appreciate the opportunity to take care of them.

This 2025 Acura MDX Technology made its first visit to 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing thanks to a customer referral, and its owner—a big-city police officer—traveled quite a distance to get here. I wanted to make sure the interior and exterior detail was worth every mile of that trip. He mentioned a lingering mystery odor coming from the front passenger side that he hadn’t been able to eliminate, so I paid particular attention to that area. As I worked through the cabin, I also found a heavy, greasy coating on the seats that appeared to be an overapplication of Armor All or a similar dressing. Whatever the product was, that oily residue had to go. The owner told me a local car wash had previously cleaned the interior, so I shared my recommendations and let the results speak for themselves.

I blew out the crevices with compressed air, thoroughly vacuumed the cabin, and used heated carpet extraction with an enzyme solution to target possible organic sources of the odor. After removing the greasy buildup from the seats, I applied an anti-static leather conditioner for a clean, comfortable finish. I finished the interior work with an ozone treatment to further address the lingering odor, while the exterior received its own thorough cleanup. A first visit, a long drive, and an opportunity to show this officer the care I put into every vehicle that enters my garage. Thank you to the customer who sent him my way, and thank you, Officer, for your service and the work you do keeping our streets safe. You and your Acura are 10-8!

Some customers have been with me since the very beginning, and seeing them return is something I never take for granted. This 2025 Honda Pilot Touring belongs to one of my first customers, who recently purchased it and brought it to 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing wanting it looking perfect. At first glance, most people would have called it clean. But there’s clean, and then there’s meticulously clean—the kind where you notice all the little things other people walk right past. If that sounds like you, you’re my kind of customer, and this owner is right there with us. Two family vehicles, one day, and a whole lot of trust in 10-8! This 2025 Land Rover Range Rover SE was the second vehicle I detailed today for a Hinsdale resident, and this one handles the family-hauling duties. Even a vehicle purchased new just 10 months ago benefits from a thorough reset, and a few hours in the 10-8 garage had this Range Rover looking the way it did when the family first brought it home. A Google search brought this first-time 10-8 customer from Hinsdale my way, and I’m glad it did! His 2022 Jaguar F-TYPE was ready for an interior and exterior detail, but his busy schedule didn’t leave time for dropping it off and picking it up. I took care of that for him, picking up the Jaguar and bringing it back three hours later looking sharp in that beautiful British Racing Green finish. I gave the exterior the attention it deserved and refreshed the interior so he could enjoy a clean car inside and out. Finding time to get your car detailed shouldn’t be the hardest part of getting it done, and a little pickup-and-return convenience goes a long way on a busy day. This Jaguar is 10-8!

Mother Nature apparently heard I was washing a car and decided to help. The skies opened up with torrential downpours the moment I started the exterior on this 2016 Honda Accord EX-L, belonging to an Elmhurst resident referred by one of my regular customers. The weather wasn’t cooperating, but I worked through the rain, took my after pictures anyway, and dried the Accord once I got it into the garage for the interior. Inside, a moderate amount of dog hair and plenty of drool marks on the windows told me someone’s four-legged passenger had been enjoying the ride. I took care of all of it and gave the cabin a thorough cleaning to match the freshly washed exterior. By the time I finished, this Honda was clean, refreshed, and delivered back to the customer’s garage in time for Wheel of Fortune. No need to buy a vowel—I’ll spell it out: this Accord is 10-8! Thank you to my regular customers who keep sending friends and neighbors my way. Those referrals mean a lot to me.
