Some jobs are extra special because of the people behind them. This beautiful 2020 Audi A8 Quattro L belongs to a retired Police Commander that I had the privilege of working for for five years. He was a great boss then, and it was great catching up with him again when he brought his Audi to 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing for an interior reset before trading it in.

The mission was simple: maximize trade-in value and eliminate the lingering smoke odor from years of daily use. As any detailer knows, cigarette smoke can be one of the toughest odors to remove because it settles into carpets, upholstery, headliners, and ventilation systems. Challenge accepted.

A thorough interior deep cleaning was performed from front to back, including the carpets, seats, door panels, trunk area, dashboard, and all interior surfaces. Once the cleaning was complete, I brought out the ozone machine and treated the vehicle with a 90-minute deionization process designed to neutralize odor-causing contaminants at their source. The result was a fresh-smelling cabin that felt clean, refreshed, and ready for its next chapter.

This Audi was already an impressive luxury sedan, but now it’s presenting itself the way it should—clean, odor-free, and ready for top dollar on trade-in day. Wishing my former Commander all the best with whatever replaces this German road warrior.

This 2023 Land Rover Discovery HSE rolled into the 10-8 garage looking good, but the owner wanted it protected and elevated to the next level. As a first-time 10-8 customer and fellow Elmhurst resident, they trusted us to give this luxury SUV the full treatment inside and out—and we were happy to deliver.

The exterior received a thorough chemical decontamination wash followed by a clay bar treatment to remove bonded contaminants hiding in the paint. Once the surface was perfectly clean, we performed a one-step paint correction to eliminate light imperfections and maximize gloss. From there, Jimmy from Rapid Response Professional Detailing and I locked everything in with an 8-year ceramic coating applied to the paint, trim, door jambs, windshield, rear window, and panoramic sunroof. The difference is hard to miss. The metallic finish now reflects like a mirror, the trim is deep and rich, and future maintenance will be dramatically easier.

Inside, the Discovery received a complete interior detail along with deep carpet cleaning to freshen up the cabin and restore that luxury feel Land Rover owners expect. Another maintenance detail in the books at 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing! This 2022 Chevy Trax belongs to a repeat customer whose vehicle I’ve been caring for every few months. Honestly, this one is a perfect example of why routine detailing pays off. Other than a light layer of dust on the exterior from everyday driving, this Trax was still in outstanding condition. In fact, when I opened the doors, you could still see the vacuum patterns from the last time I detailed it. This 2022 Subaru Outback came into the 10-8 garage looking like it had been faithfully serving its owner through daily life, weekend errands, and everything in between. As a new 10-8 customer and fellow Elmhurst resident, the owner wanted the vehicle brought back to a cleaner, fresher condition both inside and out. Challenge accepted.

The exterior received a thorough hand wash and detail to remove accumulated road grime, dust, and contaminants that had dulled the finish. Once cleaned, the deep black paint came back to life, showing off the Outback’s sleek body lines and restoring the rich reflections Subaru owners love. The trim, glass, wheels, and tires were all cleaned and dressed to complete the reset.

Inside, it was all hands on deck. The carpets, floor mats, cargo area, seats, dashboard, center console, door panels, and all the little places that collect dirt and debris received the full 10-8 treatment. Looking through the before and after photos, you’ll see just how much dust, crumbs, and everyday mess had accumulated throughout the cabin. Another one in the books at 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing, and this one was a labor of love. This 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport belongs to a local First Responder who wanted long-term protection and a complete reset inside and out. I teamed up with my friend Jimmy from Rapid Response Professional Detailing, and while the before and after photos may not scream for attention at first glance, the amount of work hiding beneath that shine tells a very different story.

This Tacoma had fallen victim to the dreaded tunnel car wash treatment. Under proper lighting, the paint was absolutely peppered with swirl marks, scratches, and wash-induced marring. After a thorough chemical decontamination wash and clay bar treatment, we got to work on a substantial paint correction process using heavy-cut microfiber and wool pads to level the defects and restore the finish to its true original form. The transformation wasn’t easy, but seeing that deep red paint come back to life made every pass worth it.

Once the correction work was completed, we applied a 5-year ceramic coating to the paint, plastic trim, front windshield, rear window, bed cover, and running boards to lock in the finish and provide years of protection and easy maintenance. The interior received a complete detail as well, leaving this Tacoma looking and feeling better than new.

This truck is meant to be seen, and now it’s ready to turn heads while staying protected from the elements. Huge thanks to Jimmy from Rapid Response Professional Detailing for helping tackle this one. Teamwork makes the dream work.

This 2018 Toyota Highlander Limited rolled into the 10-8 garage needing a full reset inside and out. Like many family SUVs, it had picked up the usual signs of daily life, along with a few unwelcome parking lot souvenirs in the form of scuffs and paint transfer on the exterior. The owner specifically asked if those blemishes could be addressed, so I broke out the orbital polisher and compound and carefully worked them away. The results speak for themselves. The scuffs were polished off, the paint regained its clarity, and the bright white finish once again looked clean and uniform.

Inside, I performed a complete interior detail to bring the cabin back to life. The leather seating, floor mats, cargo area, dashboard, cup holders, and all the little areas that collect dust and debris were thoroughly cleaned and reset. By the time this Highlander rolled out of the garage, it looked fresher, cleaner, and ready for many more miles of family duty. It’s always satisfying when a vehicle doesn’t need major repairs—just the right amount of professional attention to bring it back to where it should be. This repeat customer’s wife’s 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 stopped by 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing for a little interior and exterior reset, and honestly, this Mercedes is holding up incredibly well for a 12-year-old vehicle. It was already well cared for, so this wasn’t a rescue mission—it was about bringing back that fresh, clean feeling and sharpening up all the details that make a difference. The paint was thoroughly washed and refreshed, the wheels cleaned up, the glass crystal clear, and the interior received the attention it deserved from the cargo area to the floor mats, seats, door jambs, and all the little places that collect dust and grime over time.

The last few days have felt like an ongoing battle against Mother Nature here at 10-8. One day it’s blazing heat, the next it’s humidity, and today a thunderstorm came rolling in out of nowhere looking to ruin my plans. Fortunately, I had the exterior work wrapped up before the skies opened up and the rain started falling. Timing is everything in this business. This repeat Elmhurst customer brought their 2021 BMW X7 xDrive40i back to 10-8 Hand Washing and Detailing after a Florida road trip, and let’s just say they didn’t come home alone. Judging by the front end, they brought back about half the bug population of Florida with them. The nose, grille, mirrors, windshield, and front bumper were absolutely peppered with bug remains that had plenty of time to bake into the paint during the drive home. Add in the heavy accumulation of brake dust on the wheels—a common trait of many German luxury vehicles—and this BMW was definitely ready for a full reset.

I started with a thorough exterior wash and decontamination process to safely remove the road grime, bug splatter, and embedded contaminants. The wheels received special attention to break down the stubborn brake dust and restore that clean factory appearance. Once the exterior was dialed in, I moved inside where the carpets, cargo area, seating surfaces, door jambs, and all interior surfaces were cleaned and refreshed. The light-colored interior always looks fantastic when it’s properly maintained, and this X7 cleaned up beautifully from front to back.
