📍 Serving Short Step-by-Step STR Cleaning Checklist
Short-Term Rental | Turnover Ready | Professional Standard
🧹 WHOLE HOME – START HERE
1. Unlock property and do a quick walk-through
2. Open windows/doors to air out (weather permitting)
3. Collect all trash from every room
4. Check for guest belongings (place in lost & found) Each and every Drawer & Under BED!
5. Gather all used linens and towels
6. Turn off lights, fans, TVs left on
7. Set thermostat to owner preference
🛋 LIVING ROOM / COMMON AREAS
1. Remove trash and replace liner
2. Dust top to bottom (shelves, décor, frames) Moving things to get under!
3. Wipe light switches, door handles, remotes
4. Clean mirrors and glass
5. Wipe furniture surfaces (tables, consoles)
6. Spot-clean walls and baseboards
7. Vacuum couches and chairs (check under cushions)
8. Vacuum rugs and carpets
9. Mop hard floors
10. Stage pillows, throws, and furniture neatly
🍽 KITCHEN
1. Empty dishwasher
2. Load dishwasher with used dishes (run if needed)
3. Hand-wash any remaining dishes
4. Clean and sanitize sink & faucet
5. Wipe countertops and backsplash
6. Clean inside microwave
7. Wipe exterior of appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher)
8. Check fridge for leftover food; discard per policy
9. Wipe inside fridge shelves
10. Clean stovetop and oven front
11. Empty trash and replace liner
12. Refill supplies (paper towels, dish soap, trash bags)
13. Sweep and mop floors
🛏 BEDROOMS
1. Strip all used linens and pillowcases
2. Inspect mattress and pillows for stains
3. Replace mattress & pillow protectors if soiled
4. Make bed with fresh sheets and pillows
5. Dust headboards, nightstands, lamps, ceiling fans
6. Clean mirrors
7. Wipe switches, handles, remotes
8. Check drawers and closets for items
9. Empty trash and replace liner
10. Vacuum or mop floors
11. Final bed presentation check
🚿 BATHROOMS
1. Remove trash and used towels
2. Clean and sanitize toilet (inside, outside, base)
3. Scrub shower/tub, doors, and fixtures
4. Remove hair from ALL drains
5. Clean sink and countertops
6. Polish mirrors
7. Refill soap, shampoo, conditioner (if provided)
8. Replace towels and bath mats
9. Wipe switches, handles, towel bars
10. Mop floors
11. Final check for hair, streaks, water spots
🧺 LAUNDRY AREA (IF APPLICABLE)
1. Start laundry immediately upon arrival
2. Clean washer and dryer exteriors
3. Empty lint trap
4. Fold and restock linens neatly
5. Restock laundry supplies if provided
6. Sweep and mop floors
🌿 OUTDOOR AREAS / ENTRY
1. Sweep porch, deck, and entryway
2. Remove trash, cigarette butts, debris
3. Wipe outdoor furniture and tables
4. Check grill (clean if included in service)
5. Shake out outdoor rugs
6. Check lighting at entry
7. Ensure doors lock properly
♨ HOT TUB / AMENITIES (IF APPLICABLE)
1. Remove debris from water surface
2. Test and balance chemicals
3. Wipe cover and surrounding area
4. Check water level
5. Secure cover properly
✅ FINAL WALK-THROUGH
1. Walk room-by-room for missed details
2. Smell check (fresh & neutral scent)
3. Ensure supplies are stocked
4. Take completion photos (if required) Which are always required.
5. Lock doors and secure property
