"Ever wondered why your attic feels like a sauna after you do laundry?
It's April, and the weather is getting warmer. If your dryer vent isn't properly connected, all that hot, moist air designed to go outside is instead being pumped directly into your attic.
We see this all the time. Sometimes the vent hose just wiggles loose over time, especially with those flimsy plastic ones. Other times, a critter in your exterior vent cap stops the airflow, and the pressure pushes the hose right off the fitting.
This isn't just about wasting energy by heating your attic. That hot, moist air is a breeding ground for mold, and all that lint collecting in your attic is a serious fire hazard.
🌬️ Kraig's Rule: Go check your exterior dryer vent flap today. If it's stuck closed or filled with lint, clear it out. And if you have a suspect-looking plastic vent hose like the photo, consider upgrading to a rigid metal duct that won't flex, detach, or get crimped.
Keep your attic cool and safe, and your clothes actually dry!"
