As California hosts FIFA World Cup events and observes National Mosquito Control Awareness Week (June 21–27), residents and visitors are encouraged to take simple steps to prevent mosquito bites and reduce mosquito breeding.

Help protect your community by dumping standing water around your home, using EPA-registered mosquito repellent, and reporting mosquito problems to your local mosquito and vector control district.

Today marks the start of National Mosquito Control Awareness Week.

Mosquitoes have been a threat to public health for generations, but today’s solutions include mosquito surveillance, public education, source reduction, and mosquito control efforts that help protect our communities.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing information about mosquito prevention, mosquito-borne diseases, and the work happening across Sacramento and Yolo counties to help keep residents safe.
